The trip to the Capital is almost here. Everybody is busy deciding where to go first and last, which places are the best and worst, and of course, who are the people they're going with. This activity is the type that Niki hates the most. She doesn't have any friends to begin with. If she's ever going to join this, she's just going to visit places alone - or so she thought. Their homeroom teacher said that a volunteer will help the students in this trip. As the teacher was writing the name of the volunteer on the board, Niki felt cold to the bone. In big and capital letters, she saw her older sister's name.
"Now I really don't want to be included in this shit anymore..."
The very night before the school trip, Niki decided to stroll in the neighborhood to catch the cool breeze. The stars are shining bright like glitters in the sky, and the glowing moon is perfectly round. There is an idiom about wishing to the moon. It is like asking for something that is impossible to achieve. Niki stared deeply at the full moon, eyes sparkling like a kid's, with this weird urge of wishing something.
"It's just an idiomatic expression, but I am desperate enough to try."
The passing clouds unveiled the moon as if it is calling for her to wish anything. The stars are bright but are overpowered by the presence of this oh so full gem in the sky.
"I'm tired of being myself. Give me strength, moon!" She yelled like a weirdo on the streets. The stray cats hissed and ran away, and the windows of the houses almost simultaneously close.
"Yep. I knew this was coming."
By daybreak, Hale knocked on Nikita's door to wake her up from her not so long slumber. Everything they need is now packed. All she has to do is take a nice bath and ready herself. It seems Hale is a bit excited about this trip. It's not that surprising as Nikita knows how much of her older sister's childhood was taken away from her because of her unfortunate responsibility, so she just let her be.
All the buses are aligned when they arrived and some students are already inside the vehicle. The sun is thus far peeking through the heights of the buildings. It's almost time to go. Looking at the yellow radiant sun, Niki all of a sudden remembers how she bizzarely wished to the full moon last night. The feeling of embarrassment creeped under her skin. She vigorously shook her head - trying to forget the thing she did.
"Are you alright?" Asked Sven from her back.
Nikita turned to stone for a brief moment, then hopped on the bus without even looking behind just to avoid him. She can still remember the last time they talked at the school's rooftop. His last words left her quite puzzled and speechless.
