Ch. 16 Someone's Always Helping Her

Aria was irritated when Mrs. Chavau gave her many chores as soon as the evil mistress saw her walking toward the backyard. The ugly-hearted old lady ordered her to wash clothes and blankets and sweep the scattered fallen leaves in the backyard.

The evil lady didn't even give her a chance to have breakfast first and gave her other chores and errands once she finished her chores. It seemed like her tasks were endless, making her muscles numb and sore.

Without realizing it, it was lunchtime, and now Aria felt her stomach start to feel like it was swirling and twisting around as if some worms screamed for meals.

Aria breathed a sigh of relief after seeing that the leaves she had cleaned were few.

But…

Whoosh!

An unexpected wind emerged inside the house, blowing the fallen leaves to scatter again.

Aria turned towards the wind source and widened her eyes when she saw a large fan spinning, scattering all the leaves. Her heart was filled with tremendous irritation, but Aria couldn't do anything.

"Oh, my. Are you cleaning this place? Sorry." Tracy didn't seem guilty and sat back in the recliner next to the spinning fan.

Aria would never have finished cleaning this backyard filled with fallen leaves if the fan hadn't been turned off.

Aria could only clench her jaws and collect the many leaves in an area that wouldn't get hit by the fan. But…

Whoosh!

Now what? Why does this area also get windy? Aria spun around only to see Krista put another fan in that place, making Aria completely unable to complete her task.

"What are you doing?"

"What are we doing? We just sat back and enjoyed the sun as usual. Isn't that right, Krista?"

"Yes, sister. It's quite excellent weather today to enjoy the summer breeze."

Aria fisted her hands and tried hard to keep herself from getting out of control. She knew Mrs. Chavau purposely gave her a lot of work because she had taken her daughter's chocolate pudding. But she didn't expect the Chavau girls to make things even more difficult for her.

Today's weather was scorching, and Aria has been doing a lot of hard work since she woke up from this morning until now without eating or drinking. Her head started to feel dizzy, and she felt like energy had evaporated from her body when she saw the leaves in the backyard scattered everywhere.

"Hey, ugly girl. Don't be lazy if you don't want me to call mother," warned Krista inviting evil laughter from her sister.

"Girls! Come here!" called the evil mistress, summoning the Chavau girls.

Aria sighed in relief when she heard the evil witch call her daughters. At least she could turn off the fan and complete her task.

As soon as she saw that the two girls had reentered the house, Aria turned off the fans and immediately resumed her duties.

Aria thought she should sweep from one end to the other, considering all the leaves were flying in all directions. However, her brow furrowed when she realized that the dry leaves had gathered at the same spot.

She wondered if she had swept again without her noticing? Why is she feeling deja vu?

Ever since she was a child, she had always experienced strange and mysterious things like this. She felt she had not completed the heavy task given by Mrs. Chavau, but it turned out her job was done in the blink of an eye.

Did someone help her?

'I'm sorry, Peanut. You have to go. But I wish you know that I'm always there by your side wherever you are.'

Could it be… that person?

Aria ran until she was in the middle of the backyard of the Chavau residence. She glanced in all directions to find a figure, but she saw no one.

Even though she couldn't see anyone, she knew there was someone who was always with her.

"Is that you? I know you've always been with me since I lived here. I don't know why you never showed up after helping me, but… thank you."

A butterfly flew right over Aria's head, but strangely Aria couldn't see it. The golden butterfly had made its physical body invisible so that no one could see it.

At the same time, Tracy and Krista entered her mother's room.

"Mother, why did you call us?"

"What?"

"Didn't you call us earlier?"

"No. I didn't call you."

The mother's answer made the sisters stare at each other with confused looks.

They both heard their mother's voice calling for them, but why now the mother says she didn't?

Very weird. Why do they feel like they've been through the same thing?

"What's wrong with you girls? I'm figuring out who will be the white Alpha's mate. Shoo, now. Don't bother me. Otherwise, I'll miss the gossip, " stated the mother while intensely looking at her phone screen as if she were supervising something.

Ting tong!

The Chavau girls quickly ran out of the room to open their door, hoping Luna Courtney would come back to their house. Alas, their guest was not the person they expected, but Quinn Harrowcroft.

"Hi, girls. How are you?"

"We're fine. What did you come here for?" Tracy didn't see Quinn as an enemy, but she didn't like the girl because Quinn was good friends with Aria.

Quinn was a half-breed between elves and humans, so she has above-average beauty. The human lord also gave her a privilege and protected the girl. No humans should harm her because the elves receive complete protection from the fairy kingdom despite some of the elves preferring to live in the mortal realm.

Nevertheless, it doesn't mean that Tracy would act friendly to the half-breed. If only Quinn weren't friends with Aria, she would be friends with Quinn.

"Of course, to meet Aria."

"She has a lot of chores today. So, she can't meet you."

"Chores? What chores?"

"It's…"

"Quinn!" interrupted Mrs. Chavau before Krista spit out something that Quinn shouldn't have known. "You're here for Aria. Girls, please call Aria and tell her that Quinn is here."

"But…"

"Call her." Mrs. Chavau ordered her youngest daughter with a warning tone, indicating that she did not accept a 'no.'
