Ch. 17 His Mate Is Here!

"I can't believe you convinced Alpha Decker to take me with you." Douglass exhaled a long sigh after they arrived in the mortal realm.

The human Lord's courier picked them up using a luxurious long car and welcomed the arrival of Alpha and Luna.

"You know I will get everything I desire once I want it."

"Tsk. Should I come along?"

"You know the Harrowcroft family best. I want to give the best impression at first glance."

Douglass rolled his eyes lazily, hearing his Alpha's words. "I don't know Harrowcroft as well as you think. My mate does remember?"

"No difference."

"..." Douglass became speechless at the indifferent response from his Alpha.

"Lyod, what are you doing standing there? Come on in." urged Luna Courtney when she realized her son and his Beta did not get into the car.

Lyod knows where his parents will find his mate, while he already knows where his mate is. But he still wasn't sure and wanted to confirm it first before telling his mother.

Therefore, Lyod decided to part with his parents.

"On second thought, I will go this path." Lyod pointed his finger in the opposite direction of the car his parents were in.

"What?" Luna Courtney looked back at the path her son wanted to take. "But we went there yesterday, and we can't possibly come to the housing north a second time."

"I haven't been there before."

"Then you should go alone. Will you be okay?"

"Of course. That's why I brought my Beta."

Douglass was speechless, hearing his Alpha's answer. He knew Lyod could go wherever he wanted without bringing his Beta or bodyguard. Lyod had been an Alpha for three years, and both of them knew very well that the young Alpha king could defend himself.

However, Luna was too worried about her only son and always thought that Lyod was still a child who was clueless about the outside danger. The overprotective mother still thought his baby boy was a defenseless kid.

"Alright then." the Luna had no other choice but to let her only son go. "Douglass, I will cut your limbs if anything happens to my son."

"Roger that, Luna."

Lyod rolled his eyes lazily and walked towards the residential area where the Harrowcrofts lived. Previously, Lyod had dyed his hair black so as not to invite unwanted attractions.

They walked down the street while talking about the residential area where several werewolves from other packs were guarding. Lyod secretly checked around about the area's protection.

"The guard here is pretty safe if you're worried about your newfound mate, Alpha."

Lyod snorted in annoyance at his Beta's teasing tone. "I'm not worried about her." denied the proud Alpha.

"You don't? Alright then, if you say so. Fyi, the rogue vampires will never be able to break through our defenses."

"..." damn he. I wish I could sew his lips!

After walking for a few minutes that felt like an eternity to Lyod, they finally arrived in front of the Harrowcroft mansion. Oddly enough… Lyod didn't smell what he was looking for around the house.

"Here we are, your mate's house. How is it? Is her scent pulling you now?"

Lyod closed his eyes in search of a tantalizing scent that could stir him up from inside out. Alas, he found nothing, and every smell that surrounds him blends into one kind... the dull one.

Lyod frowned further when he felt nothing while standing in front of his so-called mate's house.

"Are you sure this is her house?"

"Yup. See?" Douglass pointed his finger at the words' Harrowcroft on the gate wall.

"Without a doubt, this is your mate's house."

"No. The half-breed is not my mate." there is no way Quinn is his mate if the girl indeed lived in this house.

The girl's smell would surely spread and fill this residential area, and if that girl was his mate, Lyod's wolf would sing and can't wait to meet her.

But right now... he felt nothing. His wolf was still sleeping and had no intention to wake up until they found his mate.

"What?"

"I feel nothing, and it's not the same scent I've been looking for."

Douglass scratched his head at his Alpha's words. He felt just as confused as Lyod, and it seemed they had to start his quest from scratch.

"Ah, Iona must be disappointed. Ugh! I don't want to see her sad."

"…" I should be the one feeling disappointed! It is me who is sad now!

Lyod shook his head at his unreasonable Beta's behavior. He decided to walk past the Harrowcroft mansion to see the rest of the house.

"Hey, wait up! Where are you going?"

"Checking out the other houses." Lyod felt sure his mate's house was not far from this area because the river with a portal to the werewolf realm was in this area.

By the time they crossed the Chavau's residence, a similar alluring scent had hit his nostril. Lyod paused his step, and he froze for a moment.

It's her! Screamed his wolf in excitement, making Lyod feel sure his mate lives in… Chavau's??

However, Lyod was sure he felt nothing when he met the Chavau sisters.

"Alpha? Why did you stop here?"

"It's her. She lives in there."

Douglass turned in the direction his Alpha was looking and frowned in confusion.

"The Chavau? But I thought they… ah, could it be her?"

"Her? Who?"

"You know, the one that you loved to taunt when we were young. What is her name again? I can't remember, but you called her Ard like the name of ogre king our parents hunted years ago."

In an instant, an image of a girl with strawberry blond hair appeared in his head. Her rosy cheeks and beautiful round chocolate-like eyes were endearing in his memory.

Lyod had not confirmed whether the Ard he knew was his mate, but his heart pounded loudly once he remembered the girl.

"Thank goodness. You came right on time."

That voice! He had never heard an angelic voice like that, and it felt like someone had stolen his breath.

"Why didn't you report it to the lord?"

The closer the interaction between the two girls, the stronger the alluring scent!

She's here… and she's walking toward him!!
