Ever since they knew each other when they were young, Jeanette was always able to cheer her back up when she was sad.
She had always been a bit of a solitary person; that was how she learned and knew how to handle the emotional aspects of life.
Especially when the thing that happened with her parents in high school only made her more independent and want less to rely on other people than before.
"Thanks," Samantha says to him shyly with her head down, feeling a bit embarrassed about the way she feels towards him.
Jon looked at her and saw how cute she was blushing like that, "I know you would like it. And don't you remember?"
He holds up his hand, which is wrapped together with hers, implying something about their relationship.
"You're always...teasing me," Samantha says shyly, seeing that beaming smile on his face as he smiles for her.
He leads her through the grand entrance as they walk hand in hand and nods towards the guards standing there.
She could see that the guards were armed with weapons and a dog as they stood watching the entrance.
Walking inside, she saw the wooden pillars and the fantastic architecture of the building being displayed before her eyes.
The large windows with the afternoon sun shining through them and an open skylight as she tours the building.
At the same time, she could smell something delicious in the air, which entranced her, and she noticed that it was coming from the backyard to the wild field outside.
"Sir, you have come back," a butler wearing a professional suited attire came to greet them as the butler opened the screen door to the sitting area outside with tables and chairs to enjoy the view.
She sees sitting on the table are dishes of food with plastics covers on top, waiting for a special guest to arrive.
When Jon pulled a chair out for her, she already speedily sat down and grabbed the knife and forks as the butler opened the plastic covers that covered up the dishes of food.
She looks at him expectantly as she waits for his permission to start digging into the food he cooked for her.
He smiled widely, seeing how happy she was at the sight of the food, giving her a nod to tell her that it was okay for her to get started.
Jon is happier watching her eat than eating the food himself, maybe because it is a pleasure to share something with other people in life than to enjoy things alone.
Suddenly, noticing that Jon was watching her eat made her sit up from wolfing down the dish of food, wiping the sauce at the corner of her mouth and looking at him, slightly embarrassed for feeling like she had ill table manners.
"It's okay. You can go on," Jon motions with his hand for her to don't mind him.
She complains a little, saying, "How can I continue eating when you're looking at me."
He smiles at her, hearing that she feels a little shy, "Well, it is more fun watching you than eating."
Helping her wipe away the little bit of sauce on her cheeks from the dish of food.
At this gesture, she feels like hiding behind a plate for him to stop looking at her.
"Here," Jon picks up a little bit of food from his dish with a fork and feeds it into her mouth, "Don't mind me. I'm just bored."
She doesn't mind his way of showing affection toward her; even though he can be a little cheesy at times, she likes that he is trying to share his life with her.
"Thank you," Samantha puts down her knife and fork and says with a smile earnestly, "I'm really happy right now."
He didn't say anything but watched into her eyes for a moment, "You don't need to say that. I'm having a lot of fun when I'm with you as well."
He never knew what it was like being with other people, nor did he know what it was like when sharing his life with others.
Maybe a part of him before had given up on trying to find any meaningful relationship in his life.
He chose to busy himself with work and hoped that he could suppress the emptiness that he felt from the loneliness.
When Death introduced him to his task, he initially saw it as another kind of work.
Now that he has gotten a second chance at life and getting to know her more profoundly, he finds out he became happier and enjoyed life more than ever before.
"With you in my life, I finally found somebody to share this journey with," Jon told her honestly, "I don't know what will happen in the next step. But I'm happy here with you right now."
She became mesmerized upon hearing his words spoken to her in this way and could not find any intentional lies behind them.
She also founds herself intensely yearning to experience life together with another person.
Maybe give a chance again to trust another person; despite being in several relationships in the past, she wouldn't honestly call it love.
For her, love is a lot more than being someone's 'girlfriend', and it is more about that connection inside for another heart to heart.
Putting his hand on top of hers, he told her in a calming and soothing voice, "I should be the one saying thank you. I guess with you, I get to try out seeing the world differently, a second chance."
She tries to suppress her desire to laugh hearing all these corny lines, but she now finds herself more comfortable and less embarrassed when Jon teases her in the way he always does.
