"You're such a corndog," she jokes at him, laughing.
"Oh, I am too corny for you now, huh?" He smiles, hearing her making a poke at him in that way, "Alright, I won't be looking at you anymore. Go eat your food."
It is nice to live a life this way, sharing jokes and laughing together about something so mundane in life.
He couldn't wish for anything else, nor did he want anything else.
In such a moment by her side, sharing this kind of layback kind of day is all that he wishes for.
Being with somebody you love, the people you love and sharing a magnificent story of your life.
It doesn't need to be something extraordinary to be happy, something simple could make one happy when shared with those we love with our hearts.
After finishing eating the dishes of food, it was mostly her who took down all those plates of his cooked supplies. They got the chance to stroll through the backyard.
The land seems to stretch for an indefinite amount of miles in front of them as the sun is beginning to set on the horizon.
The time went by so fast when they talked about random things as they ate and drank.
There's a paved path with the grass cut down, so it is more suitable for people to walk through the field, like a summer garden of nature.
The wind would blow on her light skirt, making it dance along with the current and carrying her hair into the air in movement.
They didn't say anything to each other; it was also lovely to enjoy their company after a long conversation.
Soon they found a tree on top of a hill where the grass is relatively short.
On that hill, they sat closely together, watching the tall wheat seemingly sway with the wind.
The shading of the tree covers the sun's glow as it begins to descend the steps upon the sky.
Jon watches her as she ponders about something with her eyes glued to the ground, "You seem to be thinking about something."
She looked in his direction and smiled, "Have you ever thought about a day where you would want to have it on repeat forever and ever. A day where you would never get bored of?"
When he heard her say that, Jon thought a bit of those memory in his life, of all the best, happiest, and worst memories.
All these little pieces that make up his life, he wondered the question she asked him.
Looking afar into the distance above the green hill, she told him, "I had thought about that a lot. The days I wish could be on repeat forever before all the other things in life came barging in."
She remembers when her parents were happy and holding hands as they walked down the street.
When life was simple and did not require anything to glamorize how normal it was or ordinary.
Those times in her heart, when she can go back to seeing her parents laughing together with her as they would watch tv shows during dinner.
Looking back at those memories, she wonders to herself in the depth of her heart, is it the world that changes the person, or does a person create the world he chooses to want to make.
"What made you think that?" Jon asked with curiosity as he enjoyed the lighting as the sun shone through the field.
Hearing that, she didn't answer immediately and gave a meek smile, "Well, I'm just wondering about life, that's all."
Jon knows that she probably has a lot of thoughts in her heart, but he knows from experience not to push too far.
Sometimes, people would be willing to share their hearts or parts of their hearts when they are ready.
"Yeah, there are days I wish I could put on repeat forever," Jon finally told her his answer after much thought, "days when I'm with the ones I love the most in the world. Those are the days I will never forget."
He breathed a sigh as he thought about the simple days with his younger sister and his cousins as they watched movies, traveled on short trips, and celebrated the holidays together when the parents were busy.
There came this silence as though both of them were thinking of their most treasured memories in their lives before Jon broke the long uninterrupted silence between them, "But these what-ifs, we can never have those days back."
He pointed to the descending sun in the far distant part of the sky, "We can only look forward, find a little bit of sunshine in each day's difficulties, try our best to treasure and learn from each day."
She laughed a little, "I wish I could be so optimistic like you."
She mainly had thought of herself as somebody who sees the cup as half empty, and her friend Jeanette always tried to make her look at the different aspects of life in a fuller and positive way.
He laughed, hearing her say that kind of compliment about him, "I'm not, just being honest. There will always be something good in a day and the other challenges ahead."
"But there are also days when the sky is just gray, and you can't see any sunlight no matter what," she tried to play the devil's advocate here and argued back to spice up their conversation.
"I know, yet, after the rainy days, there will always be sunny days ahead as well," he took hold of her hand and gave her a bright smile, "life will have its downs and ups. I believe you can get through it if you put your heart through it."
"And sometimes that beautiful moment might just be right around the corner if we have the courage and strength to take one more step closer," Jon added at the end, his eyes looking at her.
She was amazed and warmed to hear his sincere words spoken; simultaneously, she did hear some ideas there that were true about life.
Thinking about what had been going on in her life for these years, she felt like she had to grow so much as a person facing the world.
Trying to chase after her most distant dreams all this time, sometimes it pains to have goals, too, when it is so far away.
She wanted to believe him and trust his words, that maybe, just maybe, at the end of these complex challenges, there will be smoother times lying ahead.
Holding onto his hand tightly, she also stared off into the sunset, with her heart having a renewed faith in the future, no matter how difficult it would be.
