The weekend between them so quickly passed away, those two days when they were together, they would be playing duets with her on the violin, and he would be playing on the piano.
By working together with her, they could synchronize the rhythms together.
Music always has a remarkable ability to make time go faster as it brings the listener to an eternal state of flow with the song.
When they were not playing and exploring new music together, Jon would bring her outside to the field.
They would lounge on the grass and lay there while drawing their dreams onto the sky, mesmerized by the floating clouds above.
Samantha liked this lifestyle a lot, "Jon, I wish this kind of day could happen more."
They are lying on the grass beneath the tree, watching the sky above them.
It was peaceful how the clouds would inch forward step by step in front of them.
Holding onto her hand, she whispered, "Don't worry, we can always do this whenever you want. I can always bring you here."
She looks at him with happiness, and he gives her a warm smile, holding her tightly as they lay there in a relaxed manner.
He never quite understood the meaning of relationships in the past; he only saw them as burdensome and binding, which delayed him from pursuing the dreams that mattered to him in his life.
But through coming into this world and meeting Samantha, he learned that relationships could help give life more meaning, or at least sharing time with another person can help see the world from a more different perspective.
Sitting there, they could hear the sound of the birds singing on top of the tree, and there was a sense of joy in their tones.
The things around him seem more colorful and full of meaning, and the world shines brighter than before.
It was already nighttime when Samantha found herself back at Jeanette's apartment, there was the sound of the car traffic coming and going as usual in this area.
After living in the countryside for the last two days, she finds it unusual to hear these new noises.
She stands at the window, seeing that Jon's car has already left, when Jeanette interrupts from beside her, "So, how did it go?"
"The countryside was nice," Samantha said with a smile on her face, with her eyes still peering out through the window as though in some recollection over what happened the past two days that she was with him.
"I told you so," Jeanette said jokingly, seeing that her friend was smiling happily, "if you don't take the first step, you will not know how it goes."
"Yeah, you're right," Samantha says with a happy smile and looks at her friend leaning against the wall, "thanks for giving me that little push."
Jeanette shakes her head with a gentle laugh, "I just don't want you to keep looking out the window at night every day."
Samantha gives her a light punch on the arm, "Stop teasing me, Jeanette."
Finally, Jeanette stands up from leaning on her shoulder on the wall.
Touching her with her words, "Sam, I never quite liked those guys you dated before. But I know this one is the right one; I have never seen you smile so happily before."
Hearing her say such a sincere word made Samantha out of terms to express her appreciation, as they exchanged a smile in that beautiful silence, "Thank you."
Jeanette shakes her head, implying that it is a small matter, "Don't mind the small things."
At that moment, Jeanette gives her friend a warm pat on the shoulder, "Sam, time seems to go faster when you become an adult. Make sure you don't waste the time you have delaying things."
These words made Samantha think back to the last two days and how much she enjoyed being around him and living a mundane life.
"I know," she says to her.
"So, what's up going forward?" Jeanette asked, returning to her usual gossipy self with her ears perked up in interest.
Seeing how fast her best-friend changes within a second made Samantha giggle a little, "Well, he will pick me up tomorrow after my class in the musical department."
Hearing that her friend will have a date set up for tomorrow made Jeanette interested, "Did you guys do anything alone in the countryside. Any you know?"
Hearing this question made Samantha blush shyly, "What are you talking about? Jon is not that kind of guy, and we are only friends right now."
"So friends hold hands when they walk together," Jeanette asked, teasing her, reminding her how she and Jon held hands as he walked her up to the door.
"Yes, of course," Samantha crossed with her face blushing, "sometimes friends walk like that when crossing the street."
When she was hearing that only made Jeanette laugh, seeing how Samantha was trying to hide how their relationship was going right now.
"So friends plant kisses on each other's forehead too?" Jeanette asked her afterward with a mischievous smile on her face.
"Wait! You were spying on us through the window?" Samantha looks flustered, thinking that Jeanette saw Jon planting a light kiss on her forehead before leaving for his car.
Hearing her reply while training to contain herself, she laughed, "Alright now, I won't be teasing you anymore. Since you are gone for two days, you got to make it up to me."
Feeling her arm being pulled towards the direction of the tv, "You are going to make me watch rom-com with you again?"
"Yes, you have to watch with me," Jeanette insisted, throwing a blanket in her direction.
Sitting next to her while watching the scenes of actors kissing on the television screen, Samantha finds her life right now to be more interesting than ever before.
Before, it was only Jeanette that she felt like she could share her life with, but now another person came into her life and shared something different and wonderful with her at the same time.
