Samantha heard a knock on the door as she was packing up her violin into her instrumental case after practicing in one of the rooms when the class was over.
The room had white soundproof walls to protect the sound from escaping outside, and it had a piano on the side for the students.
The wooden door to the small room opened up, and she saw Jon standing there; today, he was wearing a simple blue sweater and white pants with his hair neatly groomed.
"You ready," he asked with a gentle smile and his eyes looking into her as he watched her zip up the instrumental case with care with her hands.
"Yeah," putting the instrumental case over her shoulder by wearing the strap like a backpack, she walks up to him, "let's go."
When they are in the car, Samantha notices that Jon is driving the vehicle to the city center, where the malls and restaurants are where many people go shopping.
He sees as Jon parks his car near the side of the street, and as she gets off the car, she sees a large fountain in the center of the square.
Many couples were walking and having lunch during the break from their work, and upon turning her head, she saw Jon bringing out an electrical piano keyboard from the back of his car.
"Wait! What are you doing?" She asked him with surprise seeing the keyboard he was carrying along with the other gadgets in his bag.
"Something fun, come," he took hold of her hand and put her instrumental case into her care before strolling to the park's center, where the fountain springs forth a blooming waterfall.
People sitting and walking around the park stopped what they were doing as they saw Jon and Samantha carrying their instruments toward the fountain.
She looked around her while waiting for Jon to finish setting up the pieces of equipment and already started to notice a small crowd gathering around them.
Before, she had performed in large concerts with a vast audience, but she still felt quite nervous from playing in this unfamiliar public area.
When she finished unpacking her instrument from the case, she saw Jon looking up at her expectantly, and she could see the shape of his mouth forming into the words, "Follow my lead."
Finding her heart beating wildly with nervousness, she holds onto her violin bow in her right hand.
The people around them start to grow into chatter as they observe this situation, making her more nervous than before, hearing all these little noises.
Upon hearing that familiar song that he heard Jon play that morning, the soft melody entered her ears, smoothening the fear that she felt eating at her the seconds before.
She remembered that day with the sunset hitting down from the window as he played those notes on the keyboard, lost in the flow and the moments.
It was as though the wind drifted into her heart, and she put the violin under her chin as the music started playing on its own and watched the melody form before her so naturally and beautifully.
With Jon on the piano playing the duet to the piece and her moving the bow to the music, the crowds vanished into thin air in that space.
Everything else in the world is lost except the two exchanging the notes and combining them into something gorgeous and remarkable.
Lost in the rhythm, in that melody, in that space, there were only the two of them dancing and dancing to the tune until everything else stopped.
When she finally lifted her bow, there were only the piano's last notes that came one by one at a slow pace until the piece ended.
Hearing this composition, the crowd went awestruck as everybody found themselves uplifted from the mundane reality into a plane beyond where there is only music.
Suddenly, the crowd started clapping loudly and whistling in the air.
Opening her eyes again after being immersed in the music, she sees the happy faces of people, young and old, from their enjoyment of the piece.
It is a memorable moment, bringing music to people's ears and bringing joy to people simply.
She puts down her instrument and finds Jon looking back up at her with a smile on his face, sharing the joy with her, and she smiles back happily.
Throughout the afternoon, they played many different pieces of duets together for the crowd and found themselves lost in time.
When it was evening, Jon put away the equipment and the piano keyboard into his car, and he took a basket of food and a couple of drinks from a mini cooler.
Samantha doesn't even know how he stores these things in that car of his, but she is used to how he is always full of surprises.
"Shall we," he says to her, giving her a bottled drink from his hand.
She smiles and takes the bottle, opening it up and drinking the water in large gulps; she had entirely forgotten her thirst during the performance.
With Jon carrying the basket of food, they soon find a spot to picnic while watching the glow of the sunset carrying into the river.
They found a nice spot by the river with a view of the city opposite and the bridge where the cars are traversing.
People enjoy their runs with their dogs, and then some couples walk on the gravel pavement by the river.
"I liked how this day has turned out," Samantha says to him while snacking on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, "it is a simple kind of life."
Jon gives a small smile, then says to her, "Well, I'm glad you're liking it because I'm out of surprises in the box."
They didn't say anything anymore as they watched the sun that's in the distance slowly descend the river and form a reflection on it.
Watching the stream of the river rippling as the wind blows it gently and hearing the sound of the cars from the background streaming forth.
