New Life

"But I don't think it is the right thing to be taking another person's body," Jon said thoughtfully, realizing that completing this mission means using the previous owner's identity.

"You're not," Death answered.

"I'm not?"

"For this mission, the owner of the identity will be able to return once your mission is completed," Death said to him, "let's just say for now that your mission involves some rather eventful tragedies."

When he heard what Death said to him, he thought that that hint was rather peculiar, then he saw another light fragment arriving in front of him.

[Wilderness Survival Fragment Detected]

"Wilderness Survival?"

Upon absorbing that fragment, he finds his brain stuck with much more information about how to find food and water while living in the wilderness.

Unifying with that fragment made Jon feel like he could easily walk in any jungle or desert in the world and still find his way out and survive for a long indefinite period.

Meanwhile, he also discovered his agility, senses, and endurance improved upon absorbing that fragment; this is one of the gifts that belong to absorbing the light like when he absorbed the other pieces from before.

With all these mental fragments absorbed, he was beginning to wonder whether he would be able to survive the attack still or go head to head with a lion or tiger since in his mind is also memories related to dealing with wild animals or beasts.

"Wait, why would I need this?" Jon asked with curiosity, still searching through the countless memories that flow through his mind as he absorbs them as his own.

"Let's just say this has something to do with a sinking ship," Death said back to him, "and lastly, this time, I wouldn't be providing you any help, and you will find this bag handy for your trip."

"What? Sinking ship, I'm not doing that!" But before Jon could even bicker back, he already finds himself in an unfamiliar situation.

"Have a safe trip."

He finds himself in a bedroom, a small room where he is asleep in the bed; the room is no bigger than a small office.

He sees the bag as a large backpack that he could wear that Death prepared for him beforehand, and on the inside, he could find all sorts of canned food, water, and other types of equipment handy for survival.

Getting off the bed, Jon started to notice that the ground seemed to be tilting, or at least it felt like the weight of his body was shifting dramatically like he was standing uphill.

In his mind, he had only a single thought: to save Julia, the most important person to the original owner of the memories he has now.

He immediately sees the water coming in from the hallway to the left as the ground tilts downwards below him.

And he ran up the tilting flooring at a breakneck speed and tried to look for her room, and along the way, he saw many passengers already starting to scream in fright upon realizing their plight.

The air seems like it is in a below-freezing temperature as the air seeps through the cracks of the boat.

Jon knows that he doesn't have much time to look for her as he runs through the ship, while his brain, with 160+ IQ, starts to analyze the many most likely possibilities that she might be at with fantastic speed.

And what makes this that much more challenging is watching for signs of her with everybody running all over the place as they freaked out about the low quantity of lifeboats on the ship, which could not even fit more than 1/50 of all the passengers.

When he finds her in the canteen area, he sees her body frozen as she doesn't even know what to do, seeing how everybody is scrambling about trying to survive with their lack of ability.

She notices Jon from the opposite side of the hall running up to her, "Julia!"

Wrapper her petite body into his arms in a warming embrace, seeing that she is okay and is not too shocked, "What should we do? There are not enough lifeboats on board. And I can't find Mother and Father."

He brushes her brown-golden locks of hair behind and looks into those blue eyes as she holds onto him dearly as though he is the last strand of foundation before she would fall right through.

And she's only wearing a pink dress, which comes short to her arms as her bare arms get exposed to the coldness of the atmosphere.

Putting a white coat over her body and wrapping her with it like a blanket, she speaks to her and directly to her with certainty in his voice amidst the noisy surrounding, "Julia, trust me, it will be okay."

She didn't know what to say as her small face looked down, and she nodded towards him while holding onto his shirt, not wanting to let go as tears streamed downwards.

Taking his hand, she follows him as he directs her through the place where the ship stores all the canned food and other resources that might be helpful.

This area is relatively quiet without any noise because, in their fear, they had forgotten how to reason when death is what is occupying their minds.

Taking out a plastic bag from his white backpack, he starts to fill it up with food; he was able to store many days' worth of canned food in the bag.

Taking her hand, he went out of the storage room and found that the ship had already been titled very dramatically, and he held Julia in his arms and the bag of food with his fingers as he rushed towards the very top of the boat.

In that embrace, he could smell the light flowery fragrance on her body as her eyes watched him as she was containing those tears coming those her eyes.

At the moment, the ship had already sunk deeply, and when she was looking down, she saw the frightful sight of the many passengers already drowned in the cold water below them.

Many people were still trying their best to survive as the freezing water took away their body heat.

But at the same time, underneath that are the people who had given up on trying to survive and are falling deeper and deeper into the broken ship's depth.
