Rodger carried the bags as the boys held my hands. We walked towards the meeting point by the fountain at the front of the mall. Jenny and Mathew were already there with a group of six warriors. As soon as we got closer the boys released me and ran to them. With happy squeals they jumped into Jenny's arms. Jenny fell to her knees her arms wrapped tightly around the boys and let a long whine leave her lips. She looked up as tears ran down her face.
"We all thought you were dead! That bitch even said you were goners." Mathew frowned.
"Jenny…" She turned her head to shoot him a dirty look.
"I don't care if she does become Luna I'll never accept her!" She snarled and I felt tensions rising. The warriors seemed to agree with Jenny and Mathew reluctantly sighed.
"Look, it's not our place to go against the Alpha. If he decides she's for the best…" He couldn't finish his words as he hugged Kaden. "What happened to you two?" Kaden grinned and held up the action figure and began explaining everything in detail, how they ended up in the mall, Rodger's office and showed the laminated autographed photos with Bella Donna like they were trophies.
I sat with Rodger. His head was rolling on his shoulders as I drank coffee watching the interaction. The boys had to explain twice what had happened and even then there seemed to be confusion. I looked to Rodger as he placed an arm around my shoulders and leaned heavily on me.
"Sorry," He muttered. "This is the boring stuff… I hate being interrogated." I rolled my eyes. We had been asked to confirm what the kids had said and for the most part our stories matched.
"Yeah, I don't get it… why is it so difficult to understand? They were left alone and wondered off." Rodger smirked.
"Three warriors that were supposed to be protecting them died. I'd want answers too." He leant his head on my shoulder and closed his eyes. "Wake me up when it's done." I shoved him.
"This is uncomfortable." He grinned and suddenly stretched out over the bench putting his head on my lap.
"Better?" He wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Not in the slightest…" I began but a snore already left his lips. "Fuck that…" I poked at his face and he mumbled. "You're really asleep?" I frowned as there was no more response. "Dam, impressive." Still no snarky response.
It was another hour before Jenny walked up to us and smirked as she saw Rodger then brought her phone around. I looked. It was already on a call. With a frown I took it and she nodded.
"It's our Alpha. He wants to personally thank you." I placed the phone to my ear.
"Hello," the voice on the other end was deep and had a shake of nerves to it.
"Hello, Danica?"
"Yes that's me Mr. Alpha." There was a deep sigh.
"Alpha is fine. I wanted to personally thank you for your actions today. I've heard your name from a few members of my pack and wanted to officially offer you a place with us. I understand you have been without a pack your entire life, so I don't want you to rush anything. Just think it over and if you like the idea there's a place here for you."
"Thank you, I'll definitely give it some thought. I'm just glad I was able to keep the boys safe." I saw the warriors beginning to gather the shopping bags belonging to Jenny and Mathew. "But your boys look like they're going to fall asleep on their feet. I should let Jenny get them back to you." I heard a releaved sigh.
"Thank you again." I handed the phone to Jenny and she ended the call after a few last words. After I told her my version of what happened yet again, and this included the hunters, she rubbed her forehead.
"I think we should call it for tonight." She sighed. "Everything adds up except how the boys ended up in the Mall…" I saw Aden giving me a scared but knowing look. "I was so looking forward to using that massive bathtub in our hotel." She moaned. "But we have to go out and look for the Alpha now." I frowned.
"What?" She giggled.
"He heard the news that the boys were missing and there wasn't a car in the garage, so he began to run out here… now he's somewhere between our territory and the city most likely naked." I shook my head but I could understand his haste.
"At least he remembered to bring a phone with him." She smirked.
"He has a bag he grabs. Anyway, better get these two home. They'll definitely need a nap now the sugar rush is over." I nodded and she leant forward to hug me then waved as she left. I watched as the group made their way to the car park then looked down as Rodger slept soundly. With a flick I looked to my watch and sighed. 6:30pm, what a day.
