Chapter 100

Danica's POV

I awoke on the floor of Rodgers office. The power I felt running through me was incredible. I sat up and stretched then gasped in surprise. My body felt full of life and there was no pain. I got to my feet and ran to the bathroom looking at my body. There wasn't a bruise or open wound on me. I looked at the area Enoch had put webbing but it was healed leaving a small scar like an eight pointed star where I had been stabbed by the minotaur's horn.

Suddenly a breeze ran over my body and I froze. Why was there a draft all of a sudden. I looked down and realized I was not wearing what I would call clothes. What I was wearing was burnt fabric that hung from me like old spider webs from the roof.

Slowly I left the bathroom and looked around. Enoch was sitting watching me but everyone else had gone.

"What happened?" He shrugged.

"You got the fire magic from the Minotaur." I blinked.

"How'd you know?" He walked over and grabbed my arm. I let out a gasp as he ripped a claw through my skin. "What the fuck?" He held my arm tightly then hissed as fire burned out of the wound and my skin knitted together.

"See…" he let go of my arm and backed away to his corner. I froze staring at the wounds as it burnt and closed over completely, releasing a little smoke at the end.

"What…"

'Me.' I looked around. It sounded like someone mind linked with me.

'Who spoke?'

'Me!' I felt the little fur ball in my head bouncing around. I placed my hands to my head and frowned.

'This is too weird. What's going on?' I felt the ball of fluff stop.

'Mine.' My face must have looked odd as Enoch placed his hands to my face and made me look at him.

"You look sick…" I brought my hands down.

"It's not that…" the furball growled in my head.

'Who he?' It demanded.

'Enoch… he's a friend.' I could feel the pups excitement.

'Friend!' it leapt forward, and I fell into Enoch's arms and taking in his scent. He hesitated before grabbing me then looked around in panic. Gingerly he picked me up and place me onto the sofa.

"You should sleep." I shook my head looking to my phone as he created as much space between us without looking like he was avoiding me.

"I don't need to sleep… I need to get ready to go to the pack…" I looked up as Oscar and Bella came in. Bella had bags of clothes and Oscar had food.

'Food?' Oscar looked around in confusion.

"Who was that?" Bella frowned.

"I didn't hear anyone." He narrowed his eyes.

"Someone mind linked me just now…" I looked around as he placed the food to the table.

'Mine, food mine!' He looked to me and blinked.

"It's coming from you…" He came closer and put his hand under my chin and looked into my eyes.

'Hello?' I heard Oscar in my head. The pup growled at the sudden invasion and squirmed away from Oscar causing him to smirk.

'You have a little pup in your head… How the fuck did that happen?' I shrugged.

'No clue.' He nodded.

'Is it the reason you began burning?' I thought for a moment as the pup continued to cower from Oscar then nodded.

"Rodger said it looked like you got that bastards fire magic when you killed him in the ring…" He grabbed a spring roll from the packet and brought it to my lips. "Here..." He started but the pup had already ran forward and I felt my mouth open and snap at the food he offered. At the last second, I managed to pull back and stopped myself from catching his fingers too.

"Shit sorry…" Bella looked at the strange reaction and smirked slightly.

"You all right?" I shrugged, there wasn't anything else I could do but tell her.

Mathew's POV

I had been pacing around the pack house all morning feeling strangely uneasy. With nothing else to lose I walked to my Grandmother's room and knocked on the door. Slowly the mechanism swung the door wide and she looked up at me from her little gym area where she was working on her arms.

"Mathew my dear, you're looking terrible. What troubles you?" I entered her room and nearly threw my head onto her lap like I did when I was a kid and got into trouble.

"I don't know…" I looked up at her and she gasped at the look in my eyes. "I'm scared I might have… turned against Derick… But I…" My eyes brimmed with tears and she patted my head.

"Don't be silly. You're the most loyal to your brother and there isn't another alpha around." I nodded but I began to worry my lip. "What makes you think this?" I took a breath and began to explain my feelings when Danica argued with Derick at the mall before the fight. Grandma Alice sat quietly and listened to everything I had to say with all the love and affection a grandmother had. After a moment of silence she ran her fingers through my hair and patted my cheek.

"It sounds like you want to protect Danica." I looked up at her and she smiled. "It doesn't mean you have abandoned Derick or the pack. You are simply looking after a weaker member…" I saw the hesitation on her face.

"What?" She shrugged.

"What type of wolf is Danica?" I licked my lips.

"She's wolf-less…" She smiled and patted my shoulders.

"Then there's your answer. Wolf-less members bring out the protective instinct in those around them. It's a survival thing which is why they're often a danger to the pack." She sighed. "But I actually like Danica, she handles herself well and I don't think she'll be a danger." I nodded.

"So I haven't abandoned Derick?" She shook her head.

"You'd have to encounter an Alpha stronger than Derick who you'd be happy to follow. And there aren't many of those stronger than him..." She paused. "Well… if he starts training again on a regular schedule." I nodded and sighed as my mind became calm again.

"Thanks Grammy… I guess I was kicking off for no reason." She nodded as I stood and went to the door. "I should go and see about… stuff." She smiled warmly and I left feeling better about the situation.

Danica's POV

We were in the car heading towards the pack's lands. I looked out the back window as Molly was strapped to the bed in the Pick-up. Oscar let a sigh leave his lips.

"Don't worry pup. I secured it so it won't fly away." I nodded and sighed.

"Where did Rodger disappear too?" Bella shrugged as she sat in the front passenger seat.

"He said he was going to take the leftover heart to a safe place and get some answers. But that was shortly after we all finished taking our pieces." I nodded. I had tried calling him before we left using the mind link but it was no use as I couldn't get through, so I left a message on his phone telling him where we were going before packing a bag.

I directed Oscar where to go and soon we were outside the little pack hospital. Oscar frowned as we got out.

"Are you sick?" I shook my head.

"No but the doc wanted to examine me." We entered and I saw Richard at the counter. He looked up and smiled.

"Can I help you?" I nodded.

"Mathew said you wanted to examine… me." He frowned as he thought then his mouth dropped.

"You… three times?" I nodded and he dropped the file he was holding "Clear my diary." The receptionist frowned.

"You don't have anything planned for the rest of the day." He slapped his hands together.

"Even better, this way." He waved us to follow. "So who are you're friends?" He looked to the others.

"This is Oscar and Bella. She's here because one of the guys who went to the match Friday night is her mate." He stopped outside a door.

"Really?" She nodded.

"Got a problem with that?" He shook his head then glanced at me.

"Actually, would you allow me to study your brain?" She blinked and he held up his hands. "I study the mate bond and the effects it has on wolves. Basically, you'd put on a hood and I watch your brain activity to understand how it works… it might even help with the treatment of Wolves that loose mates." She thought and shrugged.

"As long as you bring my mate to me I don't care if you want to whack off while I fuck him." Richard started then looked around as a nurse gave him a funny look.

"That's not necessary…" he squeaked and waved his hands in protest. "…all I need is the first see and touch then off you two go." She nodded and looked to me.

"Give the boys a call. I want to get to the fucking!" I laughed as I called Mathew.
