Chapter 17: When In Romeneth

Hiytax and Aliorah had been trudging through the thick snow for what seemed like days. In reality, only a few hours had passed, but the sheer strength required to drag themselves through the endless mass of white powder had all but drained them. Hiytax wished he could just fall over right there in the middle of the path and take a nap for at least a week.

As if she were able to read his thoughts Aliorah turned back and tried to encourage Hiytax onward, “Keep up! We’re almost there,” even that short sentence made Aliorah lose her breath. She inhaled deeply as she turned back towards Romeneth and under her breath she said, “Promise.”

“You’ve been saying that since we started walking!” Hiytax quickly pulled himself up through the snow, spending what felt like the remainder of his strength to catch up with Aliorah. He had been continuously falling behind and playing catch up during the entire journey.
