Chapter 41: Attack

We walked out of the diner, our steps slow. It had only been a day since we were on the team together. One day since my entire life had changed. But I missed Duncan at my side. I missed talking to him with his no-nonsense view. Look how he had taken what I'd considered to be a giant issue and twisted it around to make sense. My heart lurched at the thought of returning to Bloodrose Court without him, but I could only picture how it would go over if I turned up with Duncan in tow.

Still, I could tell that I felt a lot better about my and Ezra's situation than I had been earlier. Was the situation ideal? Not even close. Was I mad that I didn't get a choice in it? Definitely. But at the end of the day, I had made the decision to sleep with Ezra in the first place.
