When the snows cleared, briefly, Illyra took Rowan out on Zeal. Skylar had offered up his stallion to look after the two of them while they were in his kingdom. The stallion had been a good companion, but with the blizzards, he’d been cooped up for a long time.
Sabriel, of course, had protested but Illyra knew she could keep her own daughter safe if she had to.
Zeal lifted his legs high as he stepped through the snowbanks. The snow was so high, that even a large stallion had trouble.
“It’s pretty here, Mommy,” Rowan said, pointing to the white, sparkling mountain peaks.
Illyra smiled and nudged Zeal further down the mountain. A quick walk down to the lower peaks and back up to the safe house would give Zeal plenty of exercise and get her and her daughter some fresh air.
“Do you like it here in the mountains?” Illyra asked, nuzzling her daughter's red hair with her nose.
