Chapter 38: Out of the Frying Pan

Once the torches lighting the markets extinguish, the time for action is nigh. I maintain a sharp eye for any possible watchers. As I feel more confident in my security, I wriggle within my rope binding. Carefully, I remove my boot. The bandits only checked my baggage. Yet, to my benefit, they failed to inspect my person.

I struggle to position my hand near my sheathed dagger. With a stressful sense of finesse, my right hand manages to pull up the dagger. 'Now how to cut the rope?' My mind works towards a solution. I stab the point of the blade into the dirt. While half of the dagger remains above ground, I rub the rope against the exposed steel. After several moments; 'Snap!' The rope breaks apart!
