Pursuit

Chapter Six (6). Pursuit.

Emelia stared at Reo, squinting her ruby eyes as she placed Reo on the spot. It bothered her greatly when her husband disappeared, what's more was that she was also uncertain her cooking was edible.

Reo shook his head again, and waved his hands. "I didn't run away, and neither do I think your food is inedible. On what basis have you gathered enough evidence I dislike your cooking? I believe there's none."

Emelia clasped her cheeks and gained enlightenment. "Was I too doubtful? Oh my, then that's another cross. But that aside, care to tell me what happened?"

"Rather than saying I vanished or ran away, I was ejected from Demi and was forcibly thrown back to Earth without hearing my complaints." Said Reo as he resignedly looked down.

"...The great Ransom was unable to speak his opinion?" Emelia found it slightly unbelievable, and proceeded to question Reo.

"My powers have been sealed after return. Nevertheless, I didn't have the power to cross time and space either." Continued Reo.

Emelia gaped, and snuggled on Reo's embrace. She then landed a kiss on his cheeks and said, "It must've been lonely for you my dear. I regret not following you to this world much earlier."

"But I think there's no need for the two of us to be sad, look, I, your wife, had reunited with you and will never separate from you again!" Emelia proudly announced and kissed Reo's cheek again.

Reo was given continuous pecks on his cheeks, he couldn't contain his joy and bursted out chuckling.

He patted Emelia's raven hair while the other rustled his.

After a few more pecks on his cheek, Reo finally laughed aloud and told Emelia, "If I tell you what I am doing for a living, will you flinch in surprise?"

Emelia paused, "Hmm?"

"I work in the dumpsters; I am a garbage collector."

"Ah....? Work with...garbages?" Emelia asked with uncertainty.

"En. And I'm homeless!" Reo flaunted.

Emelia saw his silliness and giggled. "Oh my, again? Oh dear."

Even in this world, the homelessness of her husband couldn't be spared. Yet another night like the former, he hasn't gotten himself a good place and a nice bed to sleep.

"So, don't you feel any disgust?" Asked Reo as he inspected the raven haired woman in front of him.

Emelia shook her head, "I would never."

"However, it's quite shocking to find out your powers have been sealed." She voiced simply and reached her hand forward to drag Reo's head down towards her shoulder.

"Why has it?" She questioned, though her gaze was not that of curiosity.

Reo closed his eyes and allowed the soft fingertips to caress his head and neck.

After hearing the question, he didn't think and replied without any blockage, "Earth doesn't recognize power users as safe, and guardians have a rich history of even altering people's mind to ensure they wouldn't go crazy to the anomalies. Moreover, this world does not have profound energy source, it's very dim and low. Nevertheless..."

Reo subconsciously let out a yawn. In a hast movement, he scooped out his phone and took a quick look at the time.

It was already ten in the evening, time rather passed more quickly than it should.

In a daze due to his body clock reminding him he must sleep, Reo heard a heartily laughter coming from his wife.

"Emelia?" Asked Reo dazedly as he looked up.

He stared at Emelia for a few seconds before he was brought to answer Emelia's new question. "Look at that place, Reo-kun. That place there looks very lovely. Can we move there?"

Reo answered quickly, "Sure."

And he stood up and pulled Emelia towards the bridge that was facing towards the ocean.

The place was surrounded with pine trees and four benches were placed coherently in a precise manner to face the sea and to face back at the park.

As they arrived, Emelia rushed near towards the barricades and leaned forward. The breeze gently fawning over her being as the delicate sound of waves rose into the surroundings.

Seeing the beautiful picture painted by his beloved, Reo was smitten. He was no longer in a daze and his eyes glowed in awareness.

Then once again, Emelia let out another laughter.

It was soft and subtle giggle that slowly evolved into a loud cheer.

Reo was confused, "Emelia, what's wrong?" He asked.

Emelia pulled back her weight and looked at her husband with her dazzling ruby eyes.

Her pupils reflected Reo's ivory hair and his rare grey eyes as he stared right back at her.

"Oh, nothing's amiss, Reo-kun." Emelia replied, and abruptly pausing for a moment.

"Im just happy that I heard the answer I have yearned." She continued as she turned her body to face Reo while holding a black umbrella.

Reo was surprised to hear her answer, and more when he saw the umbrella suddenly appearing out of no where.

"What do you mean?"

A foreboding feeling rose from the depths of his heart.

[waRNINg!]

Before he had a chance to react nor has Emelia have the chance to reply, bright red sunlight hit him like a wave.

[Warning!]

Reo quickly took a look at the sea where a huge titan red sun was slowly rising.

[WARNING!!]

That wasn't how it supposed to be, the sun was supposed to be small and light yellow in it's color.

[WARNING!!!!]

In addition, it was barely pass midnight and was not morning. Such an event was impossible!

Moreover, the sounds of alarm kept appearing in Reo's subconsciousness. He wanted to know it's contents but he was unable to understand the words spoken in English after the translation feature was cut off.

[Limitations are being slowly taken off...Advice the host shall put measure....]

"Emelia, what did you do?"

"Nothing much." He heard Emelia mutter as she twirled her black umbrella.

"Its only a quarter of how much the power of my love for you is, Reo-kun~"

And a black shadow was dragged to cover the blinding rays of the red sun and sheltered Emelia and Reo with it's shade.

"Emelia...you..." Reo was speechless. And before long she could answer smoothly, a loud inhuman noise appeared out from no where.

It wasn't supposed to be loud, but as if an earplug has been removed from his ears, Reo's hearing seemed to be heightened.

But even so, he was unable to perceive the whispers Emelia has voiced.

"It has finally taken place," Emelia whispered and giggled once more. Her eyes curving into crescents as if she was marveling the appearance of her creations.

"After a while, you will be able to move as freely as how you used to in that old world."

And a crashing noise came after as a corpse was animated back into life.
