Chapter 37: Dreaming of You and I Under Crimson Shades

A boy’s pained voice echoed through the darkness.

“Larson?” Merlize called out with her golden bow in hand, walking toward the sound.

An inhuman screech came from the north. Red-eyed creatures flew past her.

“Ahh!” She shot her golden arrow through the abyss. A faint light of fiery hair on her left side caught her eye. With her ear placed near the bark, she heard leaves brushing against each other.

The boy sounded like he struggled with something big and heavy. “Gah!”

A haunting, monstrous cry pierced her ears. The boy groaned and a little thump followed. She loaded her bow with three golden lines and struck toward the northwest. They stopped short at a soft object. Red splattered all over the place.

“Are you crazy?!” Larson screamed at her. He carried the boar above his head where her blazing shots landed.

The tribal girl folded her bow behind her back. “I heard you screaming back there. I thought you needed some help. ”
