Chapter 41: Haunted Port

After a few days of walking, they have made it out of the forest. Stepping on dry land until their soles clacked, the group realized they walked on wood. Each footfall sounded like ghastly moans.

The dark clouds ended above the trees. The moon’s shine dawned on them like a spotlight. Waters splashed against the shore like huge hands grabbing at them. Cold blue floating transparent objects roamed the harbor. They either howled or wept.

Dark violet light glowed at the center of the eternal midnight blue liquid. Then blackish-violet shark fins circled the source of luminescence.

“Now what?” Merlize asked.

“My dragon nose points toward the light.” Larson answered. “There’s no mistake about it.”

“Why? What’s down there?” Nyatalia tilted her head at him.

“I’m not sure, but the smell of death is strong. I can also sense the princess’ essence.” The boy added.

“Finally, after years of suffering, I will be able to liberate my people from the plague the Dark Age has brought.”
