Chapter 50: An End to a Beginning

Larson caught up to the girl in blue silk before she entered the forest. “Merlize, wait!”

“You got what you’ve always wanted, right?” The tribal girl stopped in her tracks. “Why do you keep chasing me?”

The amber-haired boy grabbed her shoulders and spun her toward him. “It’s not what you think!”

“Then what am I supposed to think? It’s not me whom you should be with.”

“I have given it enough thought.” His abyssal eyes bore into her lenses. “When I’m with you, my heart flutters, and a powerful force pulls me into you. Those are the things I have never felt from anyone but you.”

Merlize released herself from his grip. “Why are you saying this now?”

“Don’t you get it? I’m in love with you!” he declared, failing to contain himself any longer.

His words stunned the tribal girl. She placed her hands behind her back and pinched her arm. Sure enough, she wasn’t dreaming.
