Chapter 21: Settling In

Living in a palace made Mikki used to grand spaces and a lot of riches. She always entered rooms with exquisite furniture and expensive decor, and paintings that she could not imagine how long it had been hanging on those walls for.

But one look at that enormous mansion and Mikki’s jaw dropped. She was not expecting that at all. The building was beautiful, breathtaking even. And it wasn’t even Max’s official home.

Then she remembered why it looked like they were in the middle of a forest, hidden from civilization. Max told her that this was supposed to be his safe house. And she guessed few people knew about it.

That’s why they passed by what she supposed was the core of the Lusine Pack at Aveline City and continued to drive deeper into the woods.

The safe house was supposed to be hidden. It made sense. And she found that she couldn’t complain. Not that she cared about that much comfort anyway, even though the house seemed to be much more than just a normal cabin.
