Chapter 25: The Safe House

Hours passed, or maybe it was just minutes, but it felt like an eternity to Mikki. They kissed as the twilight faded away and gave space to the darkness of the night. The moon was shining bright in the sky, and the stars seemed like a painting filled with glitter.

She wanted to complain when Max finally let go of her, and stopped their kiss so they could take a breath. The air was beginning to feel a bit tight indeed, she thought. And she was also trying not to think of other things they could do rather than just kiss.

With her cheeks blushing, Mikki straightened her hair and dress, feeling embarrassed all of a sudden with the realization of what just happened. It was a good thing that the mansion wasn’t filled with people, otherwise someone would’ve seen them for sure.
