Chapter 26: Lusine Pack

The rays of sunshine came through the long curtains and landed on Mikki’s face like a gentle kiss, making her open her eyes slightly. It felt good and warm, and she stretched her body on her comfortable and big new bed.

She stared at the ceiling for a few minutes, organizing her thoughts and imagining what her day was going to be like. She also wanted to start getting used to this new routine, even though it was only her second day here.

She was anxious and excited at the same time, since this was the first time she had control of the reins of her life.

Mikki turned to her side, looking at the spot where it was supposed to be Max’s, and felt the void on the mattress frustrate her. She was used to sleeping alone, of course. She did it during her entire life.
