Chapter 33: Invasion

Weeks later, Mikki had already adapted to her new life at the safe house. Max and her were on good terms after he apologized for leaving her alone that day, and now, even though they were not married yet, they started their own new couple routine, one that turned out to be really hard to break.

Max would normally come to her bedroom in the middle of the night to sleep by her side, if they didn’t start the night sooner after dinner, when they’d go straight to the bedroom and spend hours alone, just the two of them.

At this point, Mikki didn’t care anymore about etiquette and tradition. She knew that as a princess she could never accept something like that, but ever since she left the walls of the palace, it felt like she was living someone else’s life, and to be honest with herself, she was loving it.

The taste of freedom was addictive, and she constantly felt like now would be too hard for her to go back to her old self and her past life.
