She turned her head so fast that her neck actually snapped. Her brother was staring at her, arms folded across his chest, raised brows studying her as if she had just been caught doing something wrong. Which she actually had.


How did Fitz find her? How did he even know that she was out of the castle?


“What are you doing here?” she asked, trying to get some time to think of a plausible excuse. Although, if she was being really honest with herself, it was nearly impossible.


She had a backpack with her, and he caught her escaping from the palace in the shadows like some kind of criminal.


“I could ask you the same question, don’t you think? What the hell are you planning on doing?” Fitz retorted, still at the same place. 


He didn’t move, he only stood there, examining her, waiting to see if Mikki was going to be stupid enough to try to run away from him. He was a Beta, and a very fast one. There was no way she could simply run away from him without being caught a few steps later.
