New Neighbors

We went to our next classes and then

after school we went to our favorite ice

cream shop; Pinkberry. It is our favorite

cause that's where we first met. We

were talking about all the latest stuff

when I got a text from my dad.

Dad- where are you?

Me- sorry. I forgot to tell you I would go

out for ice cream with Jenny.

Dad- oh ok but I was worried.

Me- sorry but did you need anything?

Dad- yeah. We have new neighbors.

Me- someone bought the house next

door?

Dad- yeah and we have to go and see

them so I need you home soon. I

already made some brownies.

Me- but dad!

Dad- Kristabel get home this instant.

Me- fine. I am coming.

Dad- thanks.

I stopped texting him and looked at

Jenny.

Me- hey Jenny.

Jenny- your dad wants you home, right?

Me- yeah but we can have a sleepover

so that we can meet the new neighbors

together.

Jenny- what about your dad?

Me- he won't mind. You are like his

second daughter.

Jenny- then let's go before your dad

beheads you.

We got home in about five minutes and went up to my room to get changed. I picked out a pink top with white shorts. I used my Velcro belt and put on white pumps. I applied lipgloss and foundation before going to wait for Jenny

downstairs. I was busy checking my social media when I saw her come down.

Me- hey.

Jenny- hey.

Me- you look great.

Jenny- you too sweetie. Where is your

dad?

Me- he went next door. He said to come

when we're ready.

Jenny- well let's go.

We went and pressed the doorbell. The person that opened the door almost made me faint.

Jenny- hi.

She said and giggled.

Me- I think I just barfed in my mouth.

What are you doing here?

Kyle- hello neighbor.

Me- you are my neighbor?

Kyle- yup.

Jenny- Kristabel we will be having a lot of

sleepovers to come.

Me- seriously? Not that I don't want to have a sleepover but the fact that he is the reason for which you wanna have sleepovers.

Jenny- umm... I still love you.

Me- of course you would say that.

I said and entered the house with Jenny

following.

Kyle- I didn't say you could come in.

Me- I did not ask.

I said as I continued looking for my dad.

Me- Dad!!

Dad- Princessa I am in here.

Me- oh hi and nice to see you again

Alonzo.

Alonzo- nice to see you too.

Me- Oh. Alonzo this is my best friend,

Jenny

Jenny- nice to meet you sir.

Alonzo- it's my pleasure.

While they were getting acquainted, I

took my dad outside so we could talk.

Me- why did you not tell me?

Dad- tell you what?

Me- that they were our neighbors.

Dad- what if I told you? You would not

have come.

Me- dad! I would have come no matter how much I hate that jerk. I will always be there for you just like you will always be there for me.

Dad- yeah you won't be saying that when you grow up and leave me just like your mother.

Me- I have already said that I would be there for you but it's insulting for you to think I am like that woman. I will be in my room when you get home. Jenny

come and let's go.

Jenny- okay.

We were on our way out when we

bumped into Kyle.

Me- excuse me.

Kyle- woah what happened?

Me- none of your business.

Kyle- ok I get it you're being over dramatic because daddy refuses to buy his princess the shoes and dress she wants.

I was shocked to say the least. I was shocked at what he said. Is that what people think of me? A princess who does not have any problems and gets whatever she wants.

Jenny- Kristabel let me handle this one

Jenny- thank you. Now Kyle, have you

made an effort to get to know Flora. Do

you ever wonder why she does not have

any other friends or have you wondered

why she values her dad so much? No,

you haven't. So, don't go around judging

people or acting as if you know everything about the person. What she has gone through you have not even been through half of it so mind your own business unless you have something sensible to say and stay away from the both of us. Come on and let's go.

Me- thanks.

I said when we reached my room.

Jenny- no problem that's what friends are

for. Now what happened?

So, I narrated the whole thing to her.

Me- Yeah, that's basically it.Jenny- wow but you have got to understand him. The woman he loved more than anything just got up and left him without a word and he had to raise you all by himself not that you are a burdebut like you get me, right?

Me- yeah, I do. I guess you are right. I was just surprised to see that after everything we have been through together, he thought I would leave or that I was anything like that woman

Jenny- I understand your point totally and I am not going to take sides. All that I am going to say is that the both of you need to talk.

Me- yeah, I guess.

And that's when I heard my dad's voice

Dad- hey princessa. Can I come in?

Me- sure.

And then I heard my door close.

Dad- hey.

Me- yeah.

Dad- I am sorry for what I said. It pains

me to see that you're hurting because of me. Look I want us to be back to normal. We have been through a lot together since your mother left and don't want anything to happen to the

great father and daughter relationship we have.

Me- its ok. I love you dad.

Dad- I love you too princessa.

Jenny- this is so freaking cute. Where is

my camera?

My dad and I laughed and I hugged him.

Dad- Jenny come here and join the hug

and stop being silly.

He said to Jenny who was still looking for

her camera.

Jenny- if you insist.

Me- we do.

We just laughed and hugged each other

for some time.
