It was dark. Vivian could feel the rush of wind all around her as if she were caught in a tornado, the force of it pulling her body in all directions at once. It was as if she was being ripped apart. For a moment, she allowed her mind to let go, accept that she was going to die. Then, suddenly, she heard Everett’s voice calling her name.
Vivian’s eyes flung open, a bright light illuminating her surroundings, revealing the inside of the beast. The pressure of the air and water around them caused a turbine effect that allowed Everett and Vivian to float in mid-air, a waterfall cascading all around them. Vivian saw that Everett had broken a flare, the red, fiery glow bouncing all around them as it drifted on the swirl of air. Vivian didn’t hesitate, not wanting to spend another second in the place.
It felt like swimming, as Vivian pushed through the air, pulling her blade as she reached the creature's throat.
