Blair's hands shook as she struggled to put the key into the lock. Dropping them on the wet ground, she cursed, picking them up quickly. Finally, she heard the click of the lock, but before pushing into her apartment, she glanced over her shoulder one last time. She was alone in the dark alleyway, only the single flickering light above her door.
She didn't live in the best part of New Orleans, her shop not the most popular in the quarter, and rents being high, she had to settle for something in the warehouse district. At this hour, the streets were barren. Turning back towards the dor, Blair was just about to push inside, when she felt him at her back.
Before she could move, think, he was on her, wrapping his hand around her waist and she was gone. It happened so fast, the feeling of being pulled in every direction, the pressure on her chest building so that she couldn't breathe. But it was only for a second. Then he released her.
