Chapter 92: Back to the Beginning

Vivian could hear the thud of Ava’s heart, feel her leg shaking under the table, causing her own body to vibrate. Looking down, Vivian swore she saw sparks from Ava’s fingers and realized that her anxiety was causing the magic to become unstable. Vivian had to do something.

“Lexi, we were just talking to Logan,” Vivian stated, unable to think of what to say to alleviate the tension building quickly in the room. “Very interesting - his past that is.”

“We all have lived very long, much longer than any of you.” Vivian could see the longing in Lexi’s eyes, the flare of need to drink her blood. She’d seen it before.

“My brother talks too much.” Lexi moved around Everett, making her way to the table. Before she sat down, she flicked a finger motioning for Everett to come to the table as well. “Everett, dear brother, you have failed to see the danger you have put us in by bringing these outsiders into our home,” Lexi stated, glaring at Vivian.

“Desperate times,” Everett offered.
