The plan was shaky at best. While Everett had given her an outline of how he would gain possession of the tablets, it all hinged on the fact that Collin was a human being. Turns out, he was not. A fact they both figured out the moment they entered into the room to view the tablets. Standing across from each other, the glass box between them, every nerve in Vivian’s body was jumping, responding to something and it was not Everett this time.
“Pretty exciting,” Collin offered, his white-gloved hand slowly caressing the top of the glass box as he gazed down at the tablets. “Such power contained in such a little thing,” he mused.
Suddenly, he popped his head up, staring directly at Vivian as he added, “how does it feel?”
“What do you mean?”
“To see them in person?” He retorted, but Vivian got the feeling he was referring to the growing sensation in her body.
“It’s exhilarating.”
