Chapter 13: The Decision

We didn’t stay at the pumpkin patch much longer. Heather and Mason had to talk to the manager to finalize everything, so they told Caleb, Finn, and I that we could head out if we wanted to. I wanted to hang out with Heather more, and it was beautiful outside, but since she was busy signing stuff with Mason, that meant I would be stuck to chat with Finn and Caleb.

So, naturally, I decided to head home.

I turned to give a quick goodbye to Finn and Caleb, who were chatting over by the lake. I noticed Finn was turned away from Caleb and being really short with his answers. Poor Caleb was just being himself and trying to make everyone feel comfortable, even if it meant having to pull small talk topics out of nowhere just to avoid any awkward silence.

I couldn’t get Finn’s face out of my head when he’d seen Caleb’s hand on my arm. It looked eerily similar to the one he had during our fight; a mixture of anger and disbelief.
