Chapter 19: The Drive

I had no idea what I was going to wear. What was the dress code for an indie film festival? I didn’t want to be underdressed, but I also really didn’t want to be overdressed. Did I even own anything that fell in the middle?

Why was the decision so difficult? It was one day. I just needed to pick an outfit for today. We were going to be in the car for a few hours, so I’d want something that was comfortable, but cute. ‘No, Evie,’ I thought to myself, ‘you don’t need to look cute. It’s Caleb.’

I needed an outfit that said, ‘hey, I’m at a film festival, but I came here with a guy who is just a friend.’

I eventually decided on a casual maroon dress and a black cardigan to top it off. I put it on and twirled in front of the full-length mirror in my room.

“Who are you trying to impress?”

I jumped, turning to find Addie leaning against my doorway.

“What do you mean?” I asked.
