Chapter 27: A Chance to Explain

I stood on the front steps of Heather’s house, but I honestly wasn’t sure how I’d gotten there. Or why I was there in the first place. She said she needed time, and I told myself I would give it to her, but there I was, showing up unannounced late at night.

When I’d left the bakery, I was still in shock. The kiss, the reveal that Caleb burned off his Mark, how I told him about Finn and I, how kind he was in giving me time to think about what I wanted to do. It had all happened so fast, and I hadn’t thought about the consequences of everything until I was already walking down the street.

I kissed Caleb. Well, technically, he kissed me, but I kissed him back. I was still with Finn. Or at least I thought I was. I didn’t really know where we stood anymore.
