Chapter 26: Kiss and Tell

The kiss was gentle, but had a hint of desperation as Caleb’s lips lingered on mine. His arm wrapped around my waist and pulled me close, crushing my chest against his. The kiss grew deeper, more intense, as my hands made their way up to his hair, curling it around my fingers.

It was as if we were both starving. He eased my lips apart with his tongue and delved deeper into our connection. I shuddered, despite the voice in my head that yelled at me to stop. My brain was a mass of fog, overwhelmed with the need to be touching every part of Caleb.

I nibbled on his lower lip, and Caleb groaned, pulling back just enough to plant hungry kisses down my neck. His fingers lightly grazed the bottom of my t-shirt, and he slipped his hand under it, touching my bare skin.

That was apparently the reality check I’d needed.

I pulled away, taking my hands from his hair and putting them on his chest. “Caleb,” I said, breathless, “we can’t do this.”
