Chapter 104

Caterpillar Samuel was unable to fall unconscious, but was unable to move. Helplessly his fingers pressed heavily into his palms drawing blood, as he forcibly pushed himself up.

His body continuously shook and his soul threatened to collapse. But as he gritted his teeth, Samuel could feel the painful experience growing his soul.

The clone's soul went from an apple sized soul that Samuel provided and that grew over the last year, to a watermelon sized Soul! It definitely multiplied dozens of times over!

And Samuels main body received the feedback. His soul grew incredibly quickly as well, reaching the level of a 150 Year old High Rank 1 Warrior!

Slowly the pain began to subside, but then Samuel felt his clone's body begin to sink into the lava. No, it's better to say it sank into the ground below.

He was trapped, trapped in the soil. The air in his lungs were blocked, his hearing was stopped, all he could feel was coarse gravel trapping his body.

But despite not being able to breathe, he still felt an irresistible calmness spread throughout his body. His mind seemed to be sublimated.

The soul that was forcibly implanted into this clone's body, turned from 99% to a perfect 100%.

His body continued to sink, he put up no resistance. Slowly but surely, deprived of oxygen and with a dizzy head, he felt a slight chill spread through his toes and up his spine.

And slowly his body was released from the trap and a magnificent sight appeared in front of him.

Towering waterfalls hundreds of metres tall, endless fields filled with plants excreting an intoxicating aroma, and a powerful Spiritual Energy.

Samuel looked in delight at the endless pools of water collecting at the base of the Waterfalls. Shockingly every drop was Spiritual Liquid!

And every plant was some type of Spiritual Herb. Samuel even saw dozens of trees with hanging fruits, just taunting him to go and pick them. But his rationality restrained himself.

He didn't know where this was, so he didn't act rashly. Rather he picked himself up and headed forward.

But just as he took a step he felt a rumbling at his feet. On the opposite side hundreds of metres away, another beautiful hilltop appeared. And with a heavy rumbling two sets of stairs built from a beautiful black obsidian appeared heading down from both hills.

Samuel saw this and stepped down the pathways. He could see a familiar young boy walking down the opposite sets of steps.

''So you made it here as well? I didn't expect someone would follow me.'' Nigel said with a grumpy look on his face.

He didn't expect that he would've been followed. He read about this place in an ancient book, Indecipherable to normal people, but the ability in his eyes made this the perfect chance for him.

In the records he found an ancient temple, left behind by a powerful force who once occupied the volcanoes in the Eternal Battlefield. Unfortunately it didn't say the exact location.

Instead he found the general area, but with the help of his treasure-seeking view, he found a world filled with boundless colour. Even the red that he had been desperately pursuing in Princess Lucia was common here.

But even after passing those horrific tests, through sheer luck and will, he didn't get to enjoy the benefits himself!

Instead he has a rival, who he only now found out was following him. Looking at the intimidating man opposite him.

With a wide devil like wing and a threatening horn. Exuding an aura that threatened Nigel deeply.

''Were you expecting to keep such a treasure to yourself?'' Samuel replied in a deep monotone voice. The mockery evident in his tone.

''Well that was the plan.''

''Naive.'' Samuel spat out lightly then looked at where the steps led.

It was a small jade chess set, with two seats facing each other.

Samuel walked up to the seat and sat down lightly,

''You coming?''

Nigel let out a light humph and sat opposite. Nigel was Blacks and Samuel was Whites.

Put as soon as Samuel touched the pieces, his eyes faded once again. Both Nigel and Samuel were drawn into an illusion.

Samuel stood towering above an endless army made of pure white jade. Pawns, knights on white horses, large moving fortresses.

Opposite him was a sea of black, Nigel stood overwatching everything.

Then a battle began. Every move Samuel thought of in his head was pushed to the soldiers below. A live-action chess match.

Movement wasn't limited, there were strengths and weaknesses. There was rebellion and betrayal. A century long war in the minds of Nigel and Samuel.

Samuel had the advantage of a stronger soul and more practical experience, but Nigel used his talent to analyse Samuels moves and prepare a few moves ahead.

Samuel used the formations he learnt, Nigel learnt them from Samuels actions, Samuel killed Nigels troops, Nigel ambushed Samuels soldiers.

The terrain changed, forcing Samuels and Nigel's strategies to change. From oceans, to deserts, to jungles, to pure endless fields.

They had to keep on the top of their game for what seemed like years, no, decades. Paths of destruction lay in their wakes as scattered jade was collected and rebuilt into soldiers.

There was no winner, no loser but in a way, both Samuel and Nigel were winners. They learnt to guide their troops. Learnt to think ten steps ahead. Learnt to predict what the next move would be.

They learnt how to manipulate terrains to their advantages. Set traps with vines, use sand to cover their tracks, use the water to supply their army.

Both grew at a rapid rate, the time passing was real for them, even if it was fake for others.
