chapter 6 l found but lose it

My heart was shaking for the fear that it might be too hard for me to answer

"𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣" he asked. I was so happy because that was the last topic i was taught in civic education in my school. I stood up, full of pride to answerthe question.

" 𝘼 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙚" 𝙞 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙

"𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩" announced the the co-ordinator. I feltso proud of myself as i saw the crowd clapping for mein the hall.

" 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣"inquired the co-ordinator

"Number six" replied cautiously. I sensed that she felt the same as l was when i was asked mine., this was clearly written on her face.

"𝙏𝙬𝙤 𝙩𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣"

"𝘽𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣" she answered without wasting so much time. I looked at her with so kuch jealousy and enviness. Answering the question without delay was a surprise to me. she smiles when she saw many people clapping for her too. That was when i had the chance to see her beauty. she looks angelic and perfectly made.

"𝙄𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣"

"𝙉𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣"

" 𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣𝙗𝙮 𝙗𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝".I faintly heard what the co-ordinator said. i was busy accessing her face which just start glooming every here and there. She tapped me to answer my question because iwas lost in thought.

"𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙞𝙧" i asked.

"𝙀𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙗𝙮 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙮 𝙗𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝"

"𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙖 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙨 𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙬 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙮 𝙗𝙮 𝙗𝙞𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨, 𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣"

I heard so many people clapping thunderously for me even before i finish talking. I notice she was looking at me but pretend not to see her. Despite the pretence, she tapped me and raised her thumb signalling to me. I smiled, i felt on top of the world not knowing what she meant.

" 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧"

" 𝙉𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙣𝙚"

"𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙖"

Favour who had faintedly sat on the chair, smiled pallidly at me as i looked at her.

" 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙤𝙗𝙞" she answered. Everyone in the hall shouted, everywhere was disorganised and later settled and arranged.

" 𝙏𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙨𝙤 𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙩"

"𝙏𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙄𝙧𝙚"

"𝙉𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙬𝙤" i tried to choose a question.

"𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙪𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙪𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙖𝙬.

I knew the answer but i pretend as if i didn't know it.

" 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙞𝙧"

Favour looked at me and i smile and i returned back the smile not wasting too much of my time

"𝘼𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙪𝙥𝙙𝙖𝙩𝙚, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙪𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙡𝙖𝙬"

" 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙫 𝘿𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙮"

Even before finishing the answer. I can hear the thunderous sound of hands of multitude of people clapping for me. Now i feel on top of the world now.

The co- ordinator was dumbfounded that students of junior secondary school could perform so brilliantly like this.

All in the hall were also surprise about it.

so later on, to prevent wastage of time, the co- ordinator ended the section and we were both given gifts for the quiz and other menu-menu. As from then, we both became a very tight friend, making it a must to see ourselves everyday. we talk together, read and compose songs together. It was that short period of time that we became friend that i realised she has passion for music too. so we compose many song together which i kept as a token for friendship.

Finally it was time for her to go back. The resumption day was now at hand. when she told me she will be going back the next week, it hurt like a spear been struck in my heart. Before the time, i have been

planning to ask her out but i couldn't get tje chance to express the feelings i had for her. But after she said she will be going the next week, though it hurts, i accepted and took it as a chance to express the feelings.

She will be leaving the following morning, so at night, we were walking through the street, looking at the bright full moon shinning in the sky. she was looking at me and it was clearly written on her eyes that she wanted to say something. we saw a big log beside the road and we sat on it. she rested on my laps and talked about the little dramatic times we spent together. She suddenly said something which made me cry that night.

"𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧'𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣"

"𝙉𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨, 𝙣𝙤 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜"

" 𝘿𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄𝙧𝙚"she said

"𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩" i replied

" 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪.... 𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩h𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙞 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙮𝙤𝙪... 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙨𝙠 𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩" she said. As a man i tried to subdue the tears gathering in my eyes

"𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙤 𝙞𝙩 𝙣𝙤𝙬, 𝙛𝙖𝙫𝙤𝙪𝙧" i bursted.

But she said it is too late. it was like when i thought i found her she was gone. she sing many songs that we composed together for me for the last time. she said she might not be able to come back to my area from Abuja again.

𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙞 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚 𝙞𝙩, 𝙘𝙤𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩'𝙨 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙞 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙩" she said.

Now i remember those lines again, those times that i hate her, the times that i snubbed her, times that irritate her, it sound so crazy to me. "𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙢𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙮" she continued

"𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣. That was her final statement as we went back to their compound late in the night, wavig at me. That was the last time i ever set my eyes on her in my area....
