Way Too Weak

Naturally, Nethaia was still a bit skeptical that her younger brother could go and save her from the Tyrannical Overlords guild. Not to mention he was all alone, even if he found a few companions, they wouldn't be enough. And would never be.

After all, the Tyrannical Overlords was a powerhouse listed in the top 20 strongest guilds. Defeating them without the help of the other top guilds was completely impossible. But to get help from such guilds, Vi must first be capable himself and should be noticed by the top guilds for him to join them.

But that wasn't all, he also needed to give enough merit points to the guild if he ever wanted their help. And the possibility was extremely slim. After all, what was at the stake here was the relationship between the top guilds. They couldn't just fight each other just because a certain member requested it, right? There must be enough reason, something heavy enough for the top guilds to make a move.

And with Vi's current situation... Nethaia couldn't help but doubt his capability.

Vi didn't have the qualifications to move an entire guild. He was way too young. Way too small. His reason wouldn't weigh much for those guilds. Unless, of course, he became powerful enough to give them enough benefits.

Even so, Nethaia was already happy that her younger brother cared for her up to this extent. If he ever became strong, she was certain that this younger brother of hers would be a dependable guy.

"By the way, mom, once I join the Tyrannical Overlords, it will be hard for me to return home every day. I'm sure that annoying guy will do his best to keep me in the guild all the time." Nethaia suddenly sighed deeply as she shifted her gaze at her mother. Helplessness filled her eyes.

"That's fine, Nethaia. I understand. Just be careful, okay?" Mea responded with a faint smile. She naturally understood her daughter's situation well. But, of course, it didn't mean that she didn't care about her. In fact, a trace of anger was flashing in her eyes, making it in contrast to the smile she displayed on her lips.

"Sigh... Just when in the world will dad return? It's already been five years and he is still yet to come back home. Working in the Game Tower is really annoying." Nethaia pouted as she expressed her displeasure. Thinking about her father, she could only say in her heart, "If only he's here... Then I won't be put in this tough position."

"You should know that your father is not only working at the Game Tower, right? He is also searching for your big brother. Let's not bother him, okay? I'm sure he will come home soon, together with your brother." Mea said softly. The smile and aura she exuded suddenly became warm. And despite being in her mid-40s, she appeared as though she had turned back into her youth days just by thinking about her husband and son.

"Tch, that wastrel... Dad shouldn't have wasted his time looking for him." Nethaia then again pouted her lips. But anyone could easily tell that what she said was against her heart. A trace of longing had even emanated from her eyes.

"Watch your words, Nethaia. After all, he is still your big brother." Mea immediately rebuked her daughter as she knitted her eyebrows slightly. She stared at Nethaia intently as a steely glint appeared in her eyes. Then she continued seriously accompanied by something like pride, "You already know why he left, right? It is to pursue the path of becoming the strongest!"

"Ugh, mom... Even if he wanted to become the strongest, there is no need to join that organization." Nethaia refused to budge as she refuted and rolled her eyes. That was what she hated about her big brother the most. Just to pursue strength and power in-game, he joined that infamous organization called The Exiled. Since then, he disappeared without a trace, giving worry to their parents.

"Even so, he is still your big brother..."

And just like that, Nethaia and Mea continued to argue as they continued to stuff their mouths with food. Neither one of them wanted to give in to what they believed in.

Vi, on the other hand, only listened to them as he stuffed his stomach with food as well. But his eyes right now were gleaming in sadness as he was recalling something in the past. A moment later, a long and deep sigh escaped his mouth as he shook his head twice.

Without realizing it, Vi had already finished eating the food on his plate. He also felt that he was already full after eating his favorite meal, which was fried chicken.

And since he knew that his mother and elder sister would be finished eating after a long while as they would continue to argue, Vi took a burp before he spoke, "I will go back to my room and play."

"Alright, take care." Nethaia and Mea immediately replied as they continued their arguments with each other.

"..." This made Vi rather speechless. He felt like these two were trying to drive him away already.

Helpless, Vi stood up and walked toward his room. He didn't think much about them anymore as he thought of playing the game instead. Suddenly, a wide smile appeared on his lips while he walked toward his room. Now that he was about to play again, he couldn't help feeling excited. He was itching to explore the land outside the tutorial ground now that he had left and quit the game tutorial.

But as he entered his room and closed the door, the smile on his face suddenly disappeared. He stood by the door and leaned his back on it. His expression was serious, his eyes emanated a faint glint. After a good while, the laughter and loud voices of his mother and elder sister that he could hear from the outside of his room suddenly disappeared.

It was not because his room had noise-canceling tools or anything, but he knew that the two of them purposely held back their voices. At that moment, Vi knew that those two were about to talk about something he shouldn't hear.

But Vi remained standing still as he wanted to know what it was. Only to hear a suppressed cry the next moment that made his heart ache. He knew well who was the owner of that cry.

Vi couldn't help but wear a grave expression. He clenched his fists tightly and ground his teeth behind his closed lips.

"..."

Meanwhile, a moment ago when Vi left the dining table, Mea and Nethaia suddenly went silent not long after he left. For some more time, the two of them stared at each other. Both of them were exceedingly serious. The atmosphere around them suddenly became heavy as well.

But a moment later, Nethaia couldn't contain her tears anymore as she let out a suppressed cry and said, "I'm sorry, mom. I couldn't protect the guild. I am powerless. I am too weak."

The weight of her burden was way too heavy as she could only show all the pain to the one who she depended on the most.

Mea immediately stood up as she walked near her daughter. She then put her head into her embrace right away and didn't say anything. She knew that what her daughter needed the most was not sweet and comforting words, but ears to listen and shoulders to lean on.
