Amanda Heyes is a struggling children's book illustrator who is invited to look after her editor's remote mountain home for the winter. She hopes it will be a chance to paint and work without worrying too much about rent but instead finds herself drawn toward a huge white wolf and his two pups.

When the wolf turns out to be a shifter named Levi, everything changes for Amanda, as she quickly finds herself drawn to Levi despite his rough exterior. 	Levi’s eyes scanned Amanda’s face, color painting his cheeks. His eyes were sad, but hooded, mouth pinched in the corner as he cupped her face with a touch as gentle as it was warm.


	He leaned in, just slightly, but it was enough. Amanda took his wrists in her hands and met him halfway, eyes sliding closed as their mouths met in a warm, chaste kiss. It only lasted a second before Levi drew back, gazing at her as though it broke his heart to do so.


	She knew what he was going to say. There were a million reasons why this was a bad idea. But the damage was already done, and if she was going to have her heart broken, she was going to make it worth their while.


	She grabbed the lapels of his jacket and pulled him back in for another kiss.
