Amanda set out at dawn.
She was surprised by how easy everything was. Sure, she still had the rest of her stuff back at home, and lots of explanations due to family and friends alike, but that could all be handled later. She’d gotten Lee her money for the plane, and last she’d heard from the other woman, she would be boarding a flight that afternoon. So, burdened somewhat by luggage, Amanda had started out into the snow feeling like she’d started some grand, cosmic adventure.
“Levi!” She wondered if the bond was still in place. How far could he hear her from? Every hour or so, she stopped to rest a bit and call for him once or twice, and then continued on her way.
Despite her lack of sleep, Amanda didn’t feel the least bit tired. She was excited, purely and wholly, because she knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that this had been the right choice. Thank God for Lee.
