Amanda Heyes is a struggling children's book illustrator who is invited to look after her editor's remote mountain home for the winter. She hopes it will be a chance to paint and work without worrying too much about rent but instead finds herself drawn toward a huge white wolf and his two pups.

When the wolf turns out to be a shifter named Levi, everything changes for Amanda, as she quickly finds herself drawn to Levi despite his rough exterior. 	In honor of Levi’s return, as well as Amanda’s arrival, the pack held a grand feast that night. It was exciting to watch them lug unused tables out of the spare house, blowing off dust and wiping off wooden chairs as the celebration was set up.


	According to Willow, this would be the first feast they had taken as humans since she had been a little girl.


	All around her, people were getting used to legs, remembering how to speak English, and fiddling with strange, unworn clothes. Amanda was delighted to be constantly diverted by the female members of the pack, who all wanted to try their hand at styling their hair under her tutoring. She must have done at least twenty braids by the time food was laid out on the table, and she was sure she’d styled just as many buns and crowns.
