Solomon never expected to hurt anyone. He works in a library because he loves books, and the worlds they paint for him. He is a quiet kid, used to being pushed around in school by the very people he is drawn to – books were his escape from homophobes.

Living in a small town isn't easy when you're different, and it gets worse when a new gang makes its presence known.

Something is off about these kids, and nobody seems to be able to be able to stop them. Solomon finds himself their newest target.

When he and his friends take refuge in the library one evening, they discover a passage to a hidden vault. A spirit appears to them and gives them a chance to fight, but incredible knowledge always comes with a price.

They must each decide if they will they want to stand up to their new bullies, or cower in the stacks forever. Together, they become the The Archon Society.

Sol finally had some things worked out in his head about how his magic worked. Sophia was tight-lipped (lipless, even) about how a lot of this worked. When asked why, the spirit always suggested that it either didn't have the ability or desire to interfere in their natural development. 


Sol suspected there was more to it. It had the ability to sense future events. Surely it had access to some knowledge of past events. Whether it was directly or through their own minds when it chose to access their memories (he was sure it had), he knew there was some deeper connection to the timeline. 


Pieces of conversations with Sophia drifted through his mind as he contemplated this. They had been chosen, it had said on several occasions. The spirit had also said it loved them for what they could become, for the people they were becoming.
