Chapter 20: Nothing

Camera flashes filled the air as a team of photographers shouted words of instruction and encouragement. Leah wore an off-white chiffon gown. Her long, wavy hair was done in an elegant updo interweaved with roses and baby's breath. Leah's face was bright, happy. Rehearsed smiles and giggles would be captured as the glee of a soon-to-be blushing bride. Dante stood at her side in a matching suit. His hair flowed in the breeze, like silk waving in the wind. His face was strong, stoic. The face of a protector.

Nora stood at the perimeter, frozen in her spot. The image before became blurred with tears.

"Let's get one of you giving her a kiss," one of the photographers coached Dante.
