TALLIA
I was a happy person. It took a lot to get me down.
But this mate thing that had happened between Bryant and me was wearing me down.
It was painfully clear that I wasn't what he wanted, and that killed me. My wolf was pissed, too.
She was a lot like me, bubbly and positive, but she wanted her mate, and he denied her. She didn't understand and was pretty sure he was stupid. We hadn’t been rejected, so the pain was bearable for now. I had heard stories of shifters that would die of a broken heart after their mate rejected the bond. I shivered at the thought.
I couldn't disagree about him being stupid. If he felt anything like how I did, I didn't understand how he could deny it. I ached just to be near him.
I'd be d*mned, though, if I was going to fall at his feet. It wasn't in my nature as a human to do so, and my wolf was absolutely appalled by the idea of becoming some simpering moron just to get his attention.
