TALLIA
“How are you, Thomas?” I asked as I approached him on his bench outside the barracks.
Thomas looked up at me, the evening sun setting behind him. “I’m okay. Wondering what the hell is going on with this pack.”
“What do you mean?” I took a seat beside him.
He shook his head. “Who would attack the Alpha King? Why would they attack his pack?”
I shrugged and sighed. “I don’t know. I don’t think anyone knows yet, but they’ll figure it out.”
“I heard you were hurt.”
I nodded. “I was. This is the first time I’ve been outside since the attack.” My eyes scanned the clearing. “They did a good job cleaning everything up.”
“It took two days and a lot of water to get it back,” he said in a flat tone.
We sat in silence for a minute, neither of us knowing what to say after that.
“So, what do you do all day?” I asked.
Thomas shrugged. “I got assigned to help the omegas clean the barracks every day. Apparently, I’m not allowed to just lie around.”
