BRYANT
Thankfully, I knew exactly where Tallia was when all connection to her disappeared.
My hand grabbed at my chest, and I growled.
It wasn’t pain; it was just complete nothingness. My wolf stopped everything and focused on finding her, but she was nowhere.
I’d feel it if she died, so this wasn’t that, but it was still significant. When she’d been drugged, she’d felt hazy, but she’d still been there. Now there was nothing left of the mate bond.
Was it broken?
No. I wouldn’t accept that.
Shifters could separate themselves from their animal side and I guessed that that would silence the mate bond like this. That had to be what was going on. I wouldn’t accept any other answer.
But now the question was: why did Tallia feel the need to cut me off?
Dominic stopped the SUV on the other side of the hill and the one following us pulled up alongside. We all climbed out and scaled the hill to stare down at the barn in the valley.
