Chapter 22

The dinner had concluded and the guests had been gone for the better part of an hour, and the cleanup had only just begun. Brody sent the others away on the grounds of “not being worth a shit,” and Joshua couldn’t have agreed more as they were nowhere to be found when it came to do what they were brought along for. Even Maybella thanked Brody for doing his duty as a boss with customers.

Joshua could feel the electricity between he and Ivory, multiple times they’d been interrupted by one person or another when they found themselves in near proximity. The thought of finally getting to speak with her left him aching as she was so close and yet seemingly another world away. Brody had asked him a number of times what he thought of Ivory and he did his best to play his attraction off to a “no big deal.”
