Chapter 35

“You sonofabitch!” Joshua howled, struggling to fight his way up to the bar to get at his powerdrunk brother. The effort was futile as Joseph’s minions rushed alongside him, unaware of Joshua’s gripe, to praise and toast to their newly-crowned leader who laughed and bathed in the adoration of his new subjects.

The crowd strengthened, each man charging the one next to him and the one next to him. The noise had brought curious outsiders into the bar and they’d heard the speech from Joseph and were now in the uproar themselves, leaving little-to-no room for Joshua to progress. And within moments he was pushed and thrown by the mob through the doors into the street, for the first time realizing the day had gone and it’d turned to night.
