I can’t stop smiling. Even after dropping her off back home, those tingly feelings have never left. The more time I spend with her, the more these newfound emotions buzz in my chest. It’s so foreign that I’m not even sure if it’s a good thing to feel. It feels nice, but also too good to be true?


Regardless, I’m quick to come down from my high as I approach the front of my home, seeing Veronica, wife of Troy, exiting our doors with my mother close behind. Her eyes are bloodshot from crying, and her skin is pale and raw. A look of pure devastation.
