Chapter 17

Nicholas' P.O.V

I admired Megan as she slept. There seemed to be a lot about her personality

that seemed buried within her. I admired every of her character, especially how she talks with so much boldness.

Even though I threatened her, Megan still had an outstanding way to tell me to my face in that aggressive tone of hers retorting to every one of my commands. She looked like a tough catch but it was a sure fact that I was going to pay the price for her heart.

I regretted ever telling Megan that she was not my type, actually, she was if not I wouldn't be here watching after her.

Just staring at her and also listening to her light snores, I got worried about what her mom had said a while ago. I knew Megan had to cut the call because of embarrassment, she didn't want me to hear that but I did anyway.

So unfortunate for her.

The rest of the night was restless for me, as I found little or no time to catch some sleep.

Unlike me, Megan enjoyed herself although she moaned constantly from pain.

I was always by her side to check on her and arrange her head so that she will stop snoring. I understood that this was caused by stress and I had nothing to do at all.

Around 3:17 a.m in the morning, Megan stirred awake.

I had just fallen into a slight slumber and when she called me I woke up stirring left and right thinking that something had happened

"Nicholas? Are you asleep?" her soft voice penetrated my ears.

Stirring fully awake I asked, "What do you want?"

My voice was hoarse particularly caused by the sleep. She nodded gazing at me.

"I am tasty," she let out.

I sighed, shaking my head slightly. Waking up from my chair where I was awkwardly spending the night, I walked to my table to take my bottle of water from there.

This is the only bottle of water I have here unless you will want a fresh one," I opted.

"It's fine, my throat is so dry I want to wet it," she said.

"Fine then, you can give this one a go," I explained offering her the half-empty bottle of mineral water.

She took it from me mouthing "Thank you," before gulping all the content of the bottle.

"I was so tasty," she admitted.

"So I see," I said.

Before I could go to my sit, she called me once more, her face filled with embarrassment.

"Nick... I..." she broke out swallowing her saliva.

"You need something?" I demanded smiling friendly at her.

She fumbled when the hem of her dress saying nothing at the moment, so it was up to me to press the words from her throat.

"You know you can talk to me right? I wouldn't tease you over it," I promised with my hand across the chest and the other up.

"Okay, I need to go to the... bathroom," her last word was tiny so much that I had to strain my ears to hear.

"Oh! there is nothing to be embarrassed about that, I will help you out," I said walking towards her to hold her hands.

The manner in which Megan screamed made me wonder if I was made up of thorns.

"No, no, no, please not you, God, save me I might die from shame," she exploded in an attempt to reject me.

I got confused because I was just trying to help her, not like I meant any harm to her.

"Please, call a nurse it will do," Megan pleaded.

I nodded heading towards the door, holding the doorknob, I tilted my head to look at her. She laid there staring at me too till I let out bursting her bubble,

"It's not like I was going to see your nakedness you know," I mouthed audibly for her to hear.

Before Megan had the chance to reply, I skipped off the room landing in the hall where I made it to call for some nurses to help assist her.

Megan's bone marrow had not been touched but the exhaust pipe had burned her. She also had a major stitch which is what is stopping her from walking freely.

Dr. Lewis even emphasized the fact she needed much rest so that her legs will heal fast.

Megan was brought in by a young nurse who had taken her to the bathroom where she could relieve herself as much as she wanted. She also helped Megan to sit on the bed and arranged her legs too though she groaned each time.

After the nurse had excused herself, I had only Megan to face now, and I gave her a small smile before bursting out what I wanted to say.

"Why did you wake me up if you didn't want me to touch you?" I inquired raising a brow quizically.

She ignored my question.

"Am I being ignored?" I added.

"No you are not," she replied.

"Better, so answer my question,"

"Sorry, but I do not have an answer to this your question," she retorted.

I gave her a long glare studying her face. She looked as if I was going to punch her of something. Before I could talk, my phone started ringing.

I removed it from my pocket and went through it, I wondered who might be calling me at this early hour of the day.

It was my secretary. 'What the heck was she doing to be calling me at this early hour of the morning?' I wondered.

Pulling it to the answer button, I pressed the phone to my ears.

"Good morning, Mr. Larry, I am sorry for interrupting your sleep," Ms. Vera's voice pressed through my ears.

"That is fine, what can I do for you?" I inquired in a bossy tone.

"I just want to know why you weren't at work yesterday, I hope nothing is wrong," she questioned.
