Warden Gregor and the fight

(Lex POV)

The assassin simply snorted, and dashed forward [Pathway Maker] activated two golden dust like silhouettes figures appear, it doesn't seem they notice them. One runs forward and lunges into them while the other jumps back and ducks, a familiar silhouette of the assassin appears the one who went forward got stabbed in the neck while the one who jumped back got cut by a long dagger. I choose to go back, and soon found blood spill down my cheek.

All in a few seconds. Next I dive between their legs following the next silhouette. It feels natural to be moving like this. I grab their leg and they instinctively imbue another dagger with some form of energy. Before it hits me in the chest [Broken reflect] aimed the dagger at their head but only a thread was cut off exposing some skin when they dodged.

They're a bit shocked by their dagger coming back at them so I use another skill that might as well be my favourite at this point, [Death glare] makes them release a slight shreak! Taking this opportunity based on what I've seen in some manga and wrestling matches I use a triangle hold on them from the back. But they were way stronger than I expected and thrusted a punch back at me in the ground. I couldn't see the pathways on time and soon Instinctively used [Broken reflect] this time though it seems the skill accepts clothes as a weapon too because their glove thrusted back and a gruesome *Crunch* sound was near my ear. There was no scream in pain.

'A professional in handling pain...'

But now they were having struggles in escaping my hold... their arms kept ramming into my stomach but my hold minimised their movements. Their at least 2 times stronger than me but there was a time in my young age where because of martial arts in anime I got intersected in some MMA holds and other things. I don't think it's perfect but with a little practice I should be able to get it down. I just have to use all my muscle mass to hold this person down!

I then also remember the ability to sort of inject someone with chaos, while I was sweating buckets. I tested the ability, and felt a tingle in my finger and placed it directly on their head. I don't know if I was getting really lucky or what but the one second I released them and soon their other shoulder felt displaced. They were still struggling though even with the broken arm, and soon an entire 5 minutes had passed since the beginning of the fight! At night the moonlight glove has the effect to put people to sleep I don't know for how long but I have an idea of who to keep watch if this person.

I let go of them and layed on prickly blades of grass and the moonlight shone on me.

...

A few minutes prior I wasn't too surprised when I was surrounded. I had to get used to my shitty luck in these situations. I called them out I don't know for what reason they were encircling me in particular but when I did a few seconds of silence persisted until one person came out and are going in other directions. The person behind me went silent when I asked for how to address them because I had nothing else to say at the moment... but I was ignored like rude am I right? At least snort in my direction so I know you're actually there.

She's still saying nothing so I activated [Pathway Maker] and intentionally left one sitting where I was and the other to move to the right. The first one a second later got pierced through the head and I saw a knife and splattered golden dust the other got away safely so I tilted my head with limited options and found that same dagger fly past my hair. A cold sweat dripped down my spine. There was no sound even when the knife cut though the wind.

I sat back straight and kept playing the dust figures in repeat. So activating fortune search I spotted one other person supposedly in front of me. But my sense say they aren't behind or on too the tree, they are inside! So I called them out. An ear grating voice appeared after they removed themselves like sticky glue from the inside of the tree. I once again asked for their identities and stare at them using [Death glare] Which no matter who always freaks people out though I've only used it in people who've probably had run ins with death who's on his endless work hours.

There was a bit of a shuffle behind me also perhaps it works on people with keen sense in a wider area? The person eventually submitted to my will, I assume it's because for some reason he assumes I'm a knight. I'm wondering why I am so calm in this situation, in fact it feels almost a little fun, is this due to being connected to chaos? For some reason I thought it would be a great time to try my acting skills and behaved as someone of their Anti Merlin society thing. Which by the way Merlin? Zodiac? Gaia? These are all names I remember from Earth was there another otherworlder who came here before me? Maybe they became so powerful they're one of the gods in this world. A far stretch? Sure... but in stories it's not a far stretch...

I continued my little acting practice, I don't know why but for some reason the one I assume is leading the one behind agreed to what I said and here I am. It was... interesting to meet a secret organization in person but obviously I don't know their goals. A minute later despite still working up a sweat I got up and unmasked the assailant. A woman with dark blue hair, soft skin that had a faded scar on her cheek and eyes. I was surprised to see it being a woman, I mean there weren't any particularly soft spots when holding her down if you get what I mean.

In fact I was a little embarassed, to get beaten up by a girl. I mean it would be like that because girls in my class on Earth hits were like reinforced pillows little bumps to the shoulder an such. But I guess all the power to her if she spent her life doing what she likes/believes in or whatever. I mean my memories as Oh-Jin had a few flashbacks of various strong women he key in his lifetime all the more proof.

I princess carried her because I didn't just want to sling her over my shoulders. Like let her shoulders be they've gone through enough torment in like 10 minutes. I carried her towards the servants home and found knights sleeping near the front gate of the large manor.

"Guards! Guards! There's an attack!"

One of the guys who's helmet was slipping off and was drooling while standing, spear in hand awoke all drowsily.

"Urgg uh~~ what happened?"

He saw the woman in my hands and spoke,

"Who is this...*gasp* she looks injured take her to the infirmary!"

I shake my head,

"No sir she's one of the assassins who is attacking the castle! I managed to knock her out after much effort but the others ran in!"

Soon the other guard awoke, and after explaining the situation one of them lead me to a dungeon which was like a labyrinth and there were a few guards in night patrol walking around the area.

He chained her to some cuffs and lead me to the wardens office where I'd be interrogated and healed in the infirmary.

Inside the chill wardens office a large, girthy(A/N sus?) man with muscles galore underneath his uniform sat in front of me. Despite his apparent strength I received no questioning about my own strength and how I defeated her instead I received another question that wasn't on my to answer list,

"Why didn't you kill her?"

I looked incredulously at the blond hair, blue eyed man infront me. Thinking why didn't I? She seemed two times stronger than me I could have received a level up! Well my answer was,

"I kept her alive, so she could be brought in for interrogation..."

He raised an eyebrow and I mumbled just loud enough he could hear,

"also so I could get a reward..."

He puffed some hair in laughter and he told ke with a knowing look,

"Ha! I knew you looked like a money grubber I once knew, well alright then that's it for now. An investigation at the site if the fight will be done soon. The guards are being alerted and will protect the various nobles here, the magicians are also on top of it because their research base is near here...

I nodded getting a gist of how the situation is being handled. Meanwhile the buff guy in front of me just puffed some smoke in silence and I fiddled my thumbs feeling a bit bored. I've used a lot of energy in like half an hour now so I wasn't in tip top shape. Apparently I'll be let go from here in the morning once my involvement is confirmed, so I asked the warden politely if he could send someone to grab my study material and he just shrugged sending someone along their way to the servants home.

(Gregor POV)

An attack? Out of nowhere? And they're telling me that this book smart looking guy defeated an assassin? I don't sense any strength out of him, well to he honest I'm not all interested in how he defeated the female assassin, I've seen tonnes of guys capable of hiding their strength it's nothing new. I just wonder how this guy's kind works? When he walked in, the first thing I noticed is the sense of madness in his eyes, for nearly 2 decade I became the warden of the royal families prison.

I'm tasked with stopping anyone from leaving and maintaining order, both things I can say without a doubt I'm the best in the kingdom at. I've seen madness in all forms man, woman, (other), old, young doesn't matter. Yet in this young man's eyes lays complete calm and yet my instincts put me on alert around him. I asked him a question and the surprise on his face was apparent and his answer... was perfectly normal if not just a little funny. I trust my gut more than I trust my long passed ex-wife (A/N may she R.I.P) and that's saying something...

I should invite him here some times,

"What's your name son?"

"Who? Me?"

I raised an eyebrow at him raising an eyebrow,

"Yes so you see anybody else here?"

He shook head,

"I'm Armine... Lex Armine."
