Zaros whipped him to their side in a swoosh! What does she mean? Was she saying she would treat the same way the way he treated Adira? How could that be possible?

His sister was different and his wife was different! She was after all a werewolf. But he couldn't say that. Holding his displeasure, he clenched his fist as he forced back his anger down his throat.

"What do you mean, Lady Serene?" Zaros asked. Even though he tried to sound calm one could still sense the displeasure in his tone.

"Son, what are you saying? You are saying as if I am going to torture her. You are taking the best care of my daughter. I will do the same! Or are you saying you are the reason for my daughter's condition? Hmm?" Serene as if she was shocked. The words she uttered came out of her throat icily. Even though a smile was playing on her lips, one could sense the anger and venom behind the words she uttered. Zaros wanted to argue but he doesn't know what to say.

"I am not saying that, Mother. I am worried about my sister," Zaros said. Indeed he was worried. They were openly talking about torturing his sister. This wasn't good. But he forgot that he tortured their daughter mercilessly under their roof under their noses. This wasn't any good or anything fair for them too.

He wants his sister to be happy but can't keep someone else's sister happy. At that moment, Zaros acted no less than a jerk.

"Just like how you are worried about your sister, even my son is worried about his sister. After all, she is the youngest of everyone in the room. She only turned twenty, three months ago. We pamper her a lot.

"She never got sick in our care. And she is sick now as if she is going to die! We will be worried obviously. How could we not be worried? Is worrying about her wrong?" Serene asked. She could see the spiraling questions in his eyes and head.

Serene wanted to slap his mouth for being a jerk to her daughter. How could he be like that! She would make sure, he would learn his lesson. She would make sure he wouldn't have a face to look at the next time he comes here. And every day he shall be buried in the guilt trap.

Zaros nodded his head in no. He knew it was better to stay silent than to open his mouth. The thought of his sister being tortured because of him left a bitter taste in his mouth. Again he left the point on how he was torturing his wife.

Indeed As Serene said, Adira is only twenty years old. It means she knew nothing. He is more than five hundred years old and even Lenora is over a hundred years. And all the elders here are over thousand years or equal to thousand years. She is a child compared to them. Yet she was more mature than her age. Yet… Zaros mercilessly and heartlessly bullied her and abused her both physically and mentally.

"Royal Physician, when will my daughter wake up?" Serene asked still gazing at her son-in-law hatefully.

"I am not sure, My Queen. She is too weak. Princess's body is like, she didn't have enough food for a month properly. It's a miracle that she came through this far. Hopefully, she wakes up when the sun rises," Royal Physician said calmly. Even he felt angry looking at his princess.

"She even said she has a stomach ache. Check that too, Royal Physician," Maximus interjected all of a sudden. He still couldn't remember the pained expression on her face when she said that word. Maybe she was going through bad stomach pain too.

The physician nodded at him.

"I don't see any signs of that. But I will send a female servant to check if it's a period. If it is… then… I will add a few more supplements for her," he said.

After that everyone left Adira's chambers. Except for Maximus, Lenora, Serene, Eudora, and Zaros.

Maximus wanted to punch his brother-in-law. He wanted to rip his throat and burn his body in the hot sun while dipping his body in the Boswellia mixture. How dare he touch his sister? And he still got the guts to be angry with her. He can't stand his sister suffering, right? He will make sure his sister suffers. He may not abuse her physically but surely mentally.

"Lady Valorine, you may leave now," Maximus said icily which scared Lenora.

She looked at his fear, shock, and surprise. Her hands and legs started shaking in fear. She can't lose her husband like this. Her initial shock gradually turned into sadness and disappointment which didn't go unnoticed by Zaros. These were the same expressions given by his wife earlier during their breakfast table.

Even Eudora and Serene were surprised at the sudden change in Maximus. As a mother, she understood Serene's pain. But seeing Maximus's anger, she realized her son turned into a dumbo. If he wants his sister to be happy, he needs to take care of someone else's sister too. Even if he didn't love her at least she deserves some respect.

Didn't he promise her that he would accept his wife with his whole heart?

What happened to the promise he made to her?

Were they all lies?

From when did he start lying to his mother too?

Before she could think further, she heard her daughter's voice.

"Isn't it Lenora or wifey?" Lenora's voice was quivery as she asked. Lenora asked unconsciously with disbelief in her voice.

Weren't they intimate in the very morning?

They did things that they weren't supposed to do even before the first day. Just the memory from the morning and a day before still makes her blush.

Tears threatened to fall from her eyes. She wanted to say something but felt like something got stuck in her throat. She watched his expressionless face looking back at her.
