Literally On Fire

There was an uproar among the students when the car drove into the college vicinity. Everyone ran out to see who it was.

Ariel was known by the student as she was very beautiful and of course, intelligent.

When the door opened and she alighted from the driver's seat, whisperings and murmurs rang out.

Then Damon alighted, the school's surrounding suddenly went quiet.

So many of the girls immediately began admiring him while pure hatred and jealous burned from the boys.

The female admires didn't dare to say a word infront of Ariel thinking maybe, the two were in a sort of relationship.

Guessing their thoughts, Ariel stepped forward to clarify: "Guys, this is my younger brother, Damon. And about the car, it belongs to my younger sister."

One of the problems Hazel and Damon had with their sister was the fact she was too honest and blunt.

The crowd got excited for two things—firstly, for the males, Ariel had a younger sister. They wondered if she was as cute as her sister or more or less but nonetheless, they were excited to meet her.

Secondly, for the females, Damon was Ariel's younger brother.

Outside, the taxi Hazel had boarded stopped outside the school's gate.

"Thank you sir" Hazel said, handing the fare to the driver.

The man refused to take it, saying: "It's great to see someone from a poor background work her way to Elixir College. On behalf of the poor, I'm proud of you"

Hazel's lips spasmed. She did like the praise but how could she tell the man she came from one of the wealthiest family in the world?

She awkwardly withdrew her hand and thanked the man. The taxi drove off and she walked to the school's gate.

The security men sneered at the fact she alighted from a taxi. One of them noticed she was putting on a luxurious clothing line and mocked: "Did you wear a fake luxury brand so as to fool and be friends with the other rich kids?"

Hazel was too lazy to reply them and after they verified her pass and found it to be true, she glanced coldly at them and smiled: "I'll be sure to return this favour."

The words seemed to jolt back their rationality. Some of the security men turned to run after her but to their dismay, she was gone.

They all began panicking but one of them hissed: "Are you all a bunch of sissies? Even a third generation wealthy child would never show up in a taxi. She merely scared you all off and you guys took the bait? Seriously?"

The reprimandation once again changed their views and they continued their job acting like nothing of that sort had happened.

Hazel walked into the school's environment. She saw almost all the students had their attention on a certain person or perhaps, people.

She consciously touched her face, ensuring her face mask was still in place. She spotted the school's entrance and skillfully avoided touching any of the students on her way.

Damon who had been lazily looking around, sighted the unmistakable figure of his sister.

"Hazel, we're here!" He exclaimed, waving his hands.

The noisy students quietened and they all looked around. None in the crowd heard the name he called or what he said afterward. Only Ariel and Hazel picked out the words.

The two girls made eye contact and Ariel understood what Hazel had in mind. She glanced beside her only to see Damon had already leaped towards Hazel in a 'normal speed'.

Before he could reach her, he was held back.

He turned to look at the problem with a smile on his face. Seeing it was Ariel, he was about to complain, when he heard Hazel ask: "I'm sorry but have we met before?"

Ariel took the cue and apologized: " I'm sorry, my brother must have mistaken you for someone he knows."

Damon stared at his two sisters thinking Ariel had not recognized Hazel because of the face mask.

He was about clarifying the whole issue when Ariel Commanded: "Apologize to her now Damon!"

"But I did nothing wrong!" Damon sulked, he turned to Hazel in a bid to call her by her name when Ariel's foot stomped hard on his.

Although it was not painful, he had to act like it was cos of the crowd. He held his foot and yelped painfully.

Hazel inwardly rolled her eyes at his exaggerated scream.

Ariel on her part couldn't help frowning. She wondered why the boy was so stupid at times.

She decided to punish him a little by requesting for him to be taken to the school's clinic.

Sure enough, a lot of girls volunteered. Damon began panicking not being used to the presence of many girls.

Even while in highschool, he kept his distance from them. He glanced nervously at Ariel begging her with his eyes not to be so brutal.

Ariel ignored the pleading look and waved her hands, saying: "You all can lead him there"

Shamelessly, they swarmed to him and led him to the school's clinic.

Hazel gave a silent laugh and headed towards the school too.

Her locker was near the school's entrance. She stopped by and dumped most of her books into it, taking with her s jotter and a silver ink pen.

There was another commotion outside and as usual, the students rushed out. Hazel couldn't help feeling the act was amusing.

Few minutes later, some students walked back in with sullen and sour expressions, followed by a girl decked in designers from head-to-toe.

Hazel stared awfully at her, she cringed in disgust seeing the other party had a fake nose.

The other students all stared bashfully and admiringly at her. Silently calling her beautiful names.

A guy putting on some weird, nerdy glasses, walked out from one of the classrooms, a lit candle in his hands.

He too, like the other students, stared in awe at the girl. He stood beside Hazel and the supposed 'beauty', kept approaching, walking in styles.

Hazel smiled faintly. The girl kept approaching, when she got to where the boy stood, she stared straight at Hazel and asked in an authoritative voice: "Why are you on a mask?"

Hazel stared amusedly at her. Shifting her gaze to the girl's knee-length, flay gown which was gradually catching fire.

"You're hot!" She lazily said and the other girl replied with an arrogant 'I know'

Then sniffing the air, she said: "I smell barbecue, who else does?"

Hazel finally faceplamed herself at the girls stupidity and exclaimed in a more serious voice: "you're literally on fire!!!"
